It is usually one of two different possible problems: either the antenna really is bad and/or not plugged in tight BEFORE you turn it on, or the docking unit you have it in has a bad connection to the radio and/or antenna connector. If you swap-out the base/dock or try it in someone else's dock to see if your radio is still okay.
Also, when I have a really old radio, it typically does the 'antenna' warning when it is about to croak, so might be time to look for a new radio - plenty online, but might have same issues, so be careful. Good luck and let me know what you find out.
you can try to open it and resolder is really easy but you have to be carefull when you take it a part there is many small resistors and capasitors near the antena and you will need a scope to see the wires and to solder i fixt my like that and it works fine
I had the same problem and I replaced my car antenna. That resulted in immediate signal improvement. But three months later, the same thing. So, another dot micro car antenna. Three months later, the signal went out again. The home kit worked perfectly. In my case, I bought a Sirius outdoor home antenna and replaced the standard indoor/outdoor antenna that came with the home kit. I took the home kit antenna and connected it to my S50 car kit and positioned the antenna on the front of the dash. No problems since then. Not one. Those dot antennas are horrible. I'd check that before getting a new radio.
While in the truck, make sure the antenna is on the outside of the truck. It has magnet so it is easy to stick to the roof.
Do not know what to say about the home antenna, mine is not working right now.
