Re: sound not coming out of speakers

I would recommend you to uninstall the sound device which is under your device start and hit run..type devmgmt.msc....then look for the sound device and unistall it..then try to reinstall it again...

No sound coming from both speaker

There are several things that could be wrong:
Your speakers are broken
Your speakers are not turned on
The sound cable is plugged into the wrong jack
The speakers are muted in Windows
The sound drivers are not installed or are corrupt.
Your sound card is bad.
Lots to think about. First ask if your speakers were working. If so, when?
Try a system restore back to when they were working. That should fix it. IF not, proceed:
Go into the control panel and click on sounds.
Select system sounds, choose a Windows event that has a sound assigned and try to preview it. If the preview arrow is grayed out, then the sound drivers are at fault. If you have a black arrow and you click on it and it seems like it's playing, then check for mechanical problems.
If Windows thinks it's playing and it isn't, the system restore thing should fix it. Or try another set of speakers to see if your speakers have failed.

Why is there no sound coming from my speakers?

If you hear no sound coming from your speakers, there could be several reasons:
1) Check to see if the speakers are powered on.
2) Check to see if the cable is plugged into the speakers and the green jack in the back of the computer.
3) Check to see if the speakers are muted in Windows. Do this by clicking on the speaker icon in the system tray. It has a place to check to mute the speakers.
4) Check to see if the sound devices and drivers are loaded. To do this go to the control panel and click on "sound." Then click on the sound tab. Choose one of the Windows events that has a sound associated with it and preview the sound by clicking on the arrow to the right of the listing. If the arrow is dark and when you click on it the sound seems to be playing, then the drivers and sound card should be functional. If the arrow is grayed out, then your sound drivers are not installed. In either case, try reinstalling the sound drivers.
5) If you've tried all this to no avail, try with another set of speakers.
6) One thing that may work is to do a system restore back to the time the speakers were working.
7) If nothing works, I would suspect that you have a bad sound card. Unfortunately, these days sound is integrated into the motherboard, but you could install an add-on sound card.
My PC makes a Pop sound every so often. Why and how to stop it? Compaq dc5000 SFF model

Is this sound coming from the tower case or from your speakers?
If it is coming from the case, can you tell if one of your cdrom drives is spinning up or if it is the hard drive?
If it is coming from the speakers what happens if you go to control panel / sounds and audio devices / sounds
select start windows and you should see windows startup.wav as the sound . Click the arrow (play sound) does it make the windows sound only or does it make the whoosh too?
Scroll through the sounds listed in the dropdown
Locate Windows XP balloon.wav and play that , is that the pop you hear?

Look through the sounds listed with speakers by them (the sounds which are enabled)
Try playing each and see if you can identify which one makes the sounds you hear.

It sounds like you are getting two notification sounds such as a hardware fail wave and error wave

Check in control panel => system => hardware => device manager
Are there any yellow ? or ! or red X items?

Go to control panel => admin tools=> event viewer
Look under system for any red error messages.

The sound on my computer has suddenly stopped working, and I have no idea why. When I click on ''Sound and Audio Devices'' on the Control Panel, it says ''No Audio Device''. The volume icon has also...

That happened to my Laptop as well and all I did is reinstalled the audio driver that is included in the package and it actually worked with no problem. If in that case is still happening, try to update the driver after reinstalling it.

Sound won't work without the earphones being plugged in

Make sure the speaker volume is turned up and also go into Control Panel, Sounds and make sure nothing is muted and all volumes are turned up. Also make sure the speakers are plugged into the sound jack in the back of the pc. The speakers also need power but since the light is on, it sounds like they are plugged in.

I am unable to get speakers working.

There is small logic to resolve or to narrow down the Audio issue.

Let me explain.

First, try to play any audio file and observe if is giving any error message or it seems to playing without sound.

If it gives any error message like "No Audio/Media device installed or found", then the audio driver is not installed in the computer or the Windows Audio serviceis stopped.

If it seems to be playing without sound, then somewhere it might be muted or Sound level might be lowered.

If you are sure that all settings are okay and not Muted, then you have to check with another speakers or headphones.

If another speakers works, then the issue is with the ols speakers.

Please get back to me if you need more information on this issue.
