Dryer won't start, light is off, but fuse is ok

Had a similar situation after running the dryer for multiple loads. I checked the wiring schematic and found the overload thermal switch location on the exhaust duct. Using my $4 volt amp meter I checked and found the circuit open (the switch open circuit). Removed the switch, went to the appliance parts store and bought a replacement for an exorbinant $9. Installed the switch and it has worked for the past couple of years.

Now that was my solution. You will need to check the wiring diagram for the problem. I would not buy a new dryer just yet until looking for a simple switch or contact that isn't working.

Troubleshooting whirlpool electric dryer WED5530SQ0

The only thing that is left is the timer. Use a multimeter and wiring diagram prior to replacing it. It is something that doesn't go out often.
Good luck.

Whirlpool electric dryer LER5620KQ1. won't heat up timer does not advance

Same problem with my Whirlpool Dryer: Model LER4634EZ2 which stopped heating. I checked the coils that was "OK" then I checked the fuse that was "OK" I replaced the Thermal Fuse and High Limit Thermostat then after starting the dryer the heat came on ... problem solved NO.... the dryer just kept running and running until I opened the dryer door. Not going to put 70 or so $$$ into this 10 year old dryer which up until 12/15/2011 worked fine.

My Whirlpool dryer(supreme) does not start. The timer switch, door switch, start switch can all be heard to electronically switch on and off when I turn the timer around and open and close the door....

the thermal fuse may be faulty. Remove the outer back of the dryer. the thermal fuse is located on the blower assy with 2 wires connected to it. It is white plastic. connect the wires together, then try to start the unit again. If the unit starts, clean the exhaust duct after replacing the thermal fuse.

Dryer worked for two days

Yes, you did. I advise you to either call me here Whirlpool Parts Surplus OR get a new pigtale for the dryer. AND a thermal fuse. Take the 9-11 1/4" screws out you will see a white skinny fuse straight down off the outgoing air duct. check continuity or connect the wires. I advise you to get a new cord before you start it again.

Best of luck

Whirlpool dryer model LEQ8800JQ won't start when push start butto

I posted today (Jan 2, 2009) that I had same problem. Handyman tested for blown thermal fuse, etc and everything was fine. He said I have to replace the timer switch .. well guess what - I fidgeted with the start button (on/off) hard a few times while simultaneously pressing & releasing door switch and it did the trick. In my case the problem was most likely with the start button. Dryer is working fine now!
