Question about Breadmakers
The bread pan is having problems with some leakage, where the drive assembly is located. Can this be fixed at a reasonable price? What is the cost of a replacement baking pan? Please help!
Dry the pan completely. Fill pan halfway with water - do not spill any water on the outside. Carefully lift up to view the bottom and see where it is leaking. If it is leaking around the central shaft, this solution will not work. If it is leaking out between the pan and the round drive assembly it is probably leaking near one of the rivets. Or it may be leaking elsewhere from a small crack elsewhere on the bottom (less likely). Mine had a hairline crack near the rounded ridge near one of the rivets. (It came from forcing the pan into the bread maker when the cross pins were not aligned properly. Turn paddle from underneath until it need not be forced.) I covered the crack area with a thin coating of J-B Weld. First, I roughed the area with an old dental tool and cleaned with acetone (Lowes hardware). I used a Q-tip with the end cut off to apply the mixed J-B Weld. J-B Weld is good up to 600 degrees F. Any high temp epoxy would work. I got J-B Weld at a local Advance auto store for about 4-5 dollars. I have made 3 loaves so far. No leak!. A very thin layer of crust sticks to the J-B Weld - not really a problem. Some Teflon paint should fix that.
