just replaced convergence chips on my 51inch magnavox and when i turned it on the first time it beeped a couple times and something popped. now the power button flashes w no picture or sound

If the set worked before with just convergence issues with the old IC's then I suspect you need to check the soldering you did on the IC's. If there are any solder bridges between any of the pins this would short out the power supply and cause a fuse or resistor to open up.
