Your have a good idea re the defrost timer. But there is also a thermostat that turns the compressor back on when the temp hits a certain point during the defrost cycle and defeat the normal cycle.. Check that out.

Before removing the door you need to release the lock on the oven door hinges. Door hinge locks are slide mechanisms or pins located on top of the hinges Once lock is released you will be able to pull out the door by opening it a bit, then lifting it up and pulling out.

Check condenser is cleaned. Replace relay and check compressor is working. If working keep your arm on condenser coil to feel warm. If not, no gas int he system. Call repairman to rectify. And also keep fridge temp setting between 36*F and 46*F and freezer temp between -14*F and 8*F. Thanks.

Usually, there are bolts/screws on the hinges. They may be covered with a plastic cap which will snap off. Start with the freezer door. While supporting the door, remove the screws from the hinge and lift to free the door. Now you should have access to the hinge supporting the refrigerator door. Same procedure for refrigerator door. Keep the screws in a safe place so you can reassemble the refrigerator when the kitchen floor is done.

in your user guide it explains procedure to remove the door, after emoving the door and layingit flast on conter /table ita amtter of removing sccrews holding on glass, and top trim to get to the screws that holdon hanlde, a little patience is all thats required not hard here
