Firstly this depends on whether the touch screen is cracked or just the outer layer is scratched badly.  If you see cracked glass or a liquid in the screen then the touch screen is broken. I have personally had this happen to one of my PDAs and after doing some research is the best bet for getting an ipaq repaired reliably.  However touch screens are very expensive.  I just looked at the site and a new screen for your PDA is $227.  I believe that is the price just for the part but not totally sure.  Your best bet would either be replace it yourself maybe buying a broken PDA of the same screen type on ebay and try to replace it yourself (which is very difficult) or just upgrade and buy a new PDA.  However no matter what happens I strongly suggest buying an aluminum case.  They are relatively cheap and will save you in the long run.  The invisible screen protectors are nice as well against scratching.  If you have any questions don't be afraid to contact me.  And by the way this is my first post so any feedback would be great reguardless.

Support for Asus A636

There is a problem with the battery cover switch. You should use a contact cleaning liquid spray or, if you are good in hardware, you can open up the PDA and solder a small capacitor in parallel with the switch. I did that yesterday, then I started iGO 2006 Plus and pressed several buttons. Everything was great, but I wasn't satisfied yet. I switched the hold button and started to hit the PDA dropped it on the table etc. When I had switched the button to unhold, surprise... the software was running. Problem solved! I have called a friend of mine and already modified his unit too.
Cheers and good luck!

Cracked touchscreen

There is no need to replace the whloe lcdscreen, you just need to replace the touch screen & panel which is a thin glasstop on the top of the lcdscreen. The whole lcdscreen is expensive, while a touch panel is much cheaper than that. And we could provide all kinds of PDA accessories. Here are some information for you In general, PDA LCD screen comprises the touch screen. LCD screen acts as a display of PDA or SmartPhone, and the likes, which cannot go without LCD screen. Touch screen is short for touch screen digitizer which seizes the upper part of PDA LCD screen. It is pressure-tactile, runs with gentle touch of stylus, finger and other tele-pointing function-possessed device. Different from LCD screen, the touch screen is an optional component for PDA, SmartPhone, and the likes. A PDA can function well even without the assembling of a touch screen for the availability of keyboard.
