Re: replacing broken nintendo ds screen

I have been looking at the Instructables Website for a solution. Some of it is useful in getting the power to come on after replacing the screen. I had the same problem and all the advice is useless unless you observe 2 very basic things. Its true the reason the DS doesn't power up is because of the little ribbon cable. First observe the original cable. Its crimped. I crimped mine in a similar fashion . Then VERY VERY IMPORTANT. The gold on the small ribbon is FACING UP. Therefore it is obvious the little black wedge clip GOES UNDER THE RIBBON CABLE TO PUSH IT UP INTO THE CONTACTS. I even broke my little wedge and my Nintendo DS is working flawlessly. See some people will give you a hint of good advice but no one will give you direct to the point good advice. Maybe some repairmen want to secure their jobs. HA HA HA!!! I'm a Hell of and Engineer that didn't buy a New Nintendo DS ;-)

Re: replacing broken nintendo ds screen

There is a little black bar across copper colored connection wires leading into the tan connection box...lift it up ever so lightly by placing fingernail underneath... see
warning... I have been replacing cover this evening for 3 hours only to find the right hinge piece that inserts into the lighted power tab doesn't rotate.... IE this was what caused the hinge to break in the first place and this torque/force problem causes the left hinge to break which is posted all over the internet and seems nintendo would have replaced all that for free anyway....I was searching this issue when I found your post SSLong hth

My Nintendo DS top screen is completely blank

you need a new case and top LCD as the cable running through the hinge is fragile and has obviously been broken. Ebay should provide you with spares required and youtube for video's on how to do the job

DS Lite Top screen is all white after replaced for new one

you should use a crystal casing because every time you open the ds the wires get messed up or put some thing on the hinge so the ds hinge will not get loose.

Ds touch screen and main screen not working - connectors broken

if you would have sent it to me first I would have replaced the case for you and you wouldn't have had these problems, but I can still help you out. I have a white nintendo DS lite in stock that I had to replace the bottom lcd display in. I will ship to you for $90 and if you are feeling adventurous send me your parts and I will take off $10 since I have no clue what is broken and what is not, but to me it sounds like the bottom lcd, touch screen , and circuit board are trash.

Nintendo ds lite has a broken hinge

You can buy a new plastic housing for your DS lite on many different sites. Some are great quality. If the DS still works (despite the broken hinge) it makes sense to replace the housing.
You should be able to find enough videos on youtube to learn how to disassembe the DS and not do any harm. Make sure that you buy a tri-wing screwdriver (also called a nintendo screwdriver).

Hope this helps

Fualt on DS

By putting the case together you've short circuit the black wire with the powerconnector. Open the bottom case and check the wire. Check Fuses F1 and F2. 99,9% change that one of them is blown out. Replacements can be found on the Internet

DS 2 Peices

Hey, you need a new outer case and a new top screen. There is a ribbon that comes out of the top screen on the top case and connects to the bottom one. There is a very good chance that ribbon has torn off. So you need to replace the top screen and a new outer case with a new hinge. I would send it to Nintendo, I believe they offer a flat rate service for the Nintendo DS Lite.

Nintendo ds to screen broken

Hi, replacing the original nds upper screen is a fairly straight forward procedure, you need to remove the 4 x small plastic plugs located in the corners of upper screen, then remove the 4 x phillips screws, the top outer back part of the case will seperate and you can gain access to the screen. Firstly remove the small screw holding down the right hand pcboard to gain access to the ribbon connectors, release the larger flat connector by hinging the clip up, slide the ribbon out, underneath you will see a tiny connector, gently ease the small clip back towards the ribbon, prising a little each side at a time, remove the ribbon and then you can prise the screen from the case.
These guys sell the replacement screens prices are very competitive and offer next day delivery!

Nintendo DS Lite top screen broke on one side

The only way you can repair this properly is to replace the casing with a new one... the hinge is a common problem and over 90% of my customers on the DS and DS Lite need a new case due to broken hinges. Once the plastic bit has broken then it will only get worse. The small bit that you say fell out was the actual hinge itself (a small black part with a silver end that twists and locks your console into place when open). Hope that helps!
