Question about Kingston (DTIU3/2GB) 2 GB USB Hard Drive

Insert disk i cant access the flash drive.. when i double click the drive it says that "please insert a disk into the drive". what seems to be the problem..thanks i need you assistance!

    everytime i double click the drive it will display "please insert a disk" or "no disk found". It can detect the flash drive but i cannot open it.

    Same problem for me except on a mac. It flashes like it works but it won't show up anywhere. I've moved computers, usb areas. Still nothing. What should I do?

Exact same problem for me, except on a mac. I've owned it for 6 months now, it's been working fine until now. When I plug it in it flashes (as if it works) but it won't sow up ANYWHERE. What should I do?

Try these first

First off try it in a different computer and if that can read it then you know for sure that the problem is with yours.

If it does not read on another computer chances are the drive is dead and whilst uncommon it does happen.

Also if "shell hardware detection" is turned OFF in W7 then it wont tell you when it is plugged in but you can still read from USB devices. You just have to browse the "removable" devices from windows explorer Try them all if more than one is listed

right click on the pen drive shown and click format

Sandisk Cruzer no longer prompting for password


I think the problem is corrosion on the contacts. Shut the computer off. Gently insert and remove the USB drive several times to try and clean the contacts. Turn the computer ON and when Windows has set up properly, insert the USB drive and see if you can read it. Many of the new drives and reader ports do not use gold contacts (too expensive) but use copper or aluminium which corrode easier an easiest.

Pen drive insert disk problem.


I think there is a virus that has disabled your pen drive please follow these steps to try and remove that disability for the pen drive.

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
3. Locate, and then click the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\UsbStor
4. In the right pane, double-click Start.
5. In the Value data box, type 3, click Hexadecimal (if it is not already selected), and then click OK.
6. Quit Registry Editor.
