Re: Paper feed drags the paper to one side

It sounds like to me that you do not have the paper guide set on the back of your printer if it is not set correctly paper will get pulled from one side. Also I would check to see if something has not been invertantly droped down between the roller and the paper support rollers. Another problem that i found is if you do not use a lexmark printer for some time the ink as well as the shuttle can get gummed up causing it to push the paper instead of gliding over it.

This HP C6180 printer will do fine for awhile, then it will quit printing and will give a message of "place paper face down in tray". It is white paper and there is no face down. Please help.l Patra...

Believe it or not, some paper manufacturers have subtle differences in the way that the paper is cut (even for plain white computer paper), so that there is an up-side and a down-side, so it affects the "feeding" action of slipping the next piece of paper into the printing path.

This could be important for special paper types, but a real drag if you're printing text.

Try another batch or vendor of paper.

Hi! My name is Roy Napier and I have couple of problems for which I would like your advice. 1. On some occasions my print-out has faint extra "ghost" copies of the text etc printed plus the colours seem to...

My first suggestion to you is to remove, clean, shake, and reinsert the ink cartridges, then allow the printer to self align. Follow your manufacturer's recommendations for removal and insertion of the cartridges.

The dragging of colour that you mention is most likely attributed to the rollers which feed the paper. If one is dirty, it will affect the paper's print quality. The way that I suggest to fix the problem with dirty rollers is to obtain a long, continuous piece of brown paper towel (utility towels, like you find in factories) and insert the end of the paper into the multi-purpose feed, then feed it into the printer for a few seconds.

Once the paper towel has fed into the printer, extract the paper manually by pulling on it in the opposite direction of feed. Repeat this process a few times and the rollers will be clean, and the color scrubbing problem should cease.

Paper wont feed propaly

It sounds like the motor on the left side went out. If it's a brand new printer your best bet would probably be exchange it at the store or see if the manufaturer has a warrenty. If it's an older printer I probably wouldn't try to get it repaired, printers are getting cheaper these days and it probably wouldn't be much more to get a new one.

The paper stuck when i want to print

1. Turn the printer off and open the access cover.
2. Look for any obstructions in the paper path and remove them if necessary. (It is possible to move the carrier assembly with the power off.)
3. Turn the printer on, load some paper, and press the Form Feed button.
4. Watch the paper as it feeds through and try to determine where the jam is occurring.
5. Check to see if all the rollers are turning.

If all the rollers are turning, there may be something in the feed path that you can't see. Go to step 6.
If not, there is probably a feed motor or a gear problem and the printer may require service.
6. If the paper is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot.
7. Turn the printer off.
8. Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers.
9. Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose.

Paper does not feed straight. It seems to drag on one side

If the paper is in the Feeder Straight, then it's a faulty feeder. My CX9400Fax did the same thing out of the box. Epson replaced it and paid the shipping.

Paper goes in squint drags to one side and jams

In my experience the usual reason for this is something (obstruction) in the paper feed. Make sure you have a really good look right down inside the paper path as quite small objects will stop a correct feed. The fact that it is one side makes me thing something is in there. I have serviced printers before with coins, paperclips etc that have found a way in.
