Needle broken in the needle-slot

I fear the needle head seem to have broken inside the needle-housing. I am not able to insert any needle amd the 'housing' is fixed so no way to remove the broken piece.

Any help/direction is most appreciated.

Many thanks

Re: Needle broken in the needle-slot

Can you please tell me what brand name and model the machine? I need to determine how the needle is normally held in place and how you usually release the needle. I have a couple of ideas but having a little bit better picture of the needle holder will help me provide you the best solution. Thanks

I cannot locate my instruction manual am having problems inserting a new needle. I am also having miner problems with loading the bobbin. Please could you advise

Needle insert: The flat part of the needle goes to the back usually.
a. Loosen the needle screw and push the needle inside the hole w/flat to the back.
b. If it doesn't seem to go in then turn the needle slightly like a screw while pushing upwards.

Bobbin insert:
Make sure you turn the hand wheel until the hook (rotating thing under bobbin that is sharp) is to the back or upwards if it is a side bobbin.
Follow instructions by diagram. They are very similar for most machines.

Keep the thread from collecting on the arm that holds the bobbin case in? My Brother LB-6800 sews quilts, and embroiders great until yesterday, The thread wraps around this small arm every time now.

Try taking the bobbin case out and re-insert. It sounds like the case that holds the bobbin is not inserted correctly. You might also try checking to be sure that the needle is inserted properly. Sometimes the needle gets loose and drops down too low. unscrew, push the needle up as far as it will go, then tighten the screw.

Needle assembly suddenly got out of alignment side to side

"Side to side"needle position as described, if I interpret you correctly, would be called lateral needle position at the widest stitch width setting. It would be highly unusual for this lateral needle position to come out of adjustment.
However, If you are describing the needle not being centered in the needle plate "front to back of the stitch slot, or favoring either the front or back of the stitch slot, an adjustment can be easily made using the following steps:
1. Locate the black 7mm hex head screw that affixes the head-frame at its base. This screw is located directly behind the presser bar. This screw fastens a small sheet metal angle that holds the head frame in its "front to back" location.
2. Loosen the screw.
3. With the needle lifted out of the stitch plate, gently push the head frame in the desired position so as to position the needle center in the stitch slot. (you will find some resistance here so a little more pressure may be needed).
4. Retighten the hex screw and voila'.
I hope that this was your problem.

My singer HD 110 will sew a bit then suddenly the needle will slow down to a stop & the handwheel seems stuck, yet the motor is still running.

Hello there! Make sure your pattern selector is compatible with the presser foot. Good idea to test with a straight stitch setting: Tension: 4. Width:4-5. Length 5 after you insert a new needle and re-thread machine. Your previous needle may have become bent when machine malfunctioned. Use fabric compatible with needle size. Always raise presser foot when threading! Then always lower presser foot before sewing. Remember to use blue tip scarf needles with synthetic fabric silk thread 50. Purster thread 50, mercerized cotton thread 50-60; #11 or #9 for fine or lightweight fabric with silk thread 50 or fine Pollyester thread; #18 leather needle for leather, #14 - 16 denim . Jimmy Sweep out shuttle carefully with small brush for broken threads and lint.

GC 500/550 not pulling bobbin thread. My wife has used the machine several times without issue, the last time she broke a needle sewing some denim, we found most of the needle but could not find it all,...

some sewing machines can not sew denim good,
here are some suggestions
since a needle was broken & replaced--if the needle has a flat side it goes to the back of the machine
make sure the needle is inserted correctly & pushed up inside of the needle holder & the needle screw tightened correctly
is the correct needle being used for the thread & fabric being sewed?
when sewing denim, a denim needle is needed, I usually purchase mine at walmart, I have 2 necchi sewing machines & the denim needles work just fine on my machines.

if none of the above suggestions help then the machine could be out of time, just because of a broken needle. only a repair shop has the correct tool to fix this problem

I have broken 2 needles and now the new needle (foot) will not move up and down. i have double checked all settings and nothing has helped. any suggestions

Here are several solutions for you to try.

* Your broken needle may have been too thin for your fabric. Make sure your replacement needle
is appropriate for the weight and type of your fabric and thread. You may also need a thicker needle if you’re sewing through bulky layers of fabric. When you insert your new needle, make sure it’s positioned correctly (usually with the flat side away from the bobbin, but consult your manual), that it goes all the way into the holder, and that the screw is securely tightened.

If there doesn’t seem to be a problem with your needle, try the following:

* Check your pressure foot to make sure it’s attached securely.

* Change your pressure foot. Your pressure foot may be bent, causing your needle to hit it.

* Don’t sew over pins. A needle that hits a pin can break. Always remove the pins from your fabric before they reach your needle.

* Don’t pull your fabric as you sew. You could be bending your needle back, causing it to hit your needle plate instead of going into the hole. Just guide your fabric, letting it feed on its own.

* Check your needle plate to make sure it's securely in position.

* Change your needle plate. If you’ve been using a straight stitch needle plate (a plate with a small hole, often used for sewing fine, delicate fabrics), switch to a needle plate with a wider hole.

* Check the position of your needle. Sewing machines with zigzag capability allow you to adjust the position of your needle, right, left, or center. If your needle is not positioned correctly, it may be hitting your needle plate or pressure foot.

I hope this helps.

Brother sewing machine model XL-6562.needle holder came off rod.n

The needle holder has a screw right above the screw that holds the needle in place. It really doesn't look like a screw because it does not appear to have a slot for a screwdriver. However, with a small flat head screw driver you can tighten it up. There is also a curverd wire that must be inserted into a slot at the bottom of the holder. The screw tightens against the wire that tightens against the post. (It's a curved wire that curves around the front part).
