The fact is that the "bagless bandwagon" is powered by some excellent marketing that conceals what is often poor technology. In your case, the filter blocks because it's doing the job that a bag would do in a bagged machine (catching the dust), and then the machine overheats because the flow of cooling air to the motor is restricted. The only solution (for this machine) is to keep buying new filters - the only permanent solution is to buy a different vacuum cleaner. And my advice is to buy one with a bag!

I have a hoover widepath carpet cleaner that I have had for approx 5 years and absolutely love it!! The last time I used it, a part of the tank broke and the clean water (thankfully!!) went everywhere. I found a new tank online and hoped that would fix it, but it still leaks. When the cleaner is on and running, it still works good but leaves more water in the carpet than it use to plus when I turn it off, I have to immediately remove the clean water tank or it slowly drains onto the carpet. I'm guessing it is a valve that is broken but it is kind of expensive to just keep replacing random parts in hope to find the right one. Can you help me? I have looked into just replacing it and if it going to be too expensive to repair, that is what I will do.
Thanks!
Susan

I need to replace two parts. I need the repair manual to see how to take the vacuum apart without breaking it trying to get it apart. Please advise how I might obtain a repair manual. I can fix virtually anything.
