I need find the ignition control for left side of a thermador cooktop

  • julielinos Mar 29, 2008

I have the same problem. A few weeks aso, the whole unit went into a sparking frenzy and wouldn't stop until the unit was unplugged. I seemed to reset. Now, the far left two burners will not spark and seem to have no gas flowing to them. I have tried to unplug, reset and checked all the breakers.

I do clean the unit frequently. Any ideas before I call the repair man?

One front burner ignites but the igniters continue to spark. when all other burners ignite the igniters immediately stop sparking. this problem started right after spilling some water on burner.

I would make sure you have wiped up all the water you spilled, You may need to take the burners off the stovetop and make sure the tiny little pinholes for the gas to come out are fully dry, Than re-assemble everything and try again.

Stove top ignition doesn't stop ticking

My Dacor cooktop had a similar problem of continuously clicking igniters. I unplugged it a couple months ago and used a piezoelectric igniter to get it started. Then I looked in the Dacor FAQ and it said to clean the ceramic igniter posts with alcohol not water. I had to scrape some gunk off a couple of the posts with a knife before cleaning with alcohol. Now it works.'

I think the igniters use electrical conductivity to detect when they need to spark, so even slight invisible contamination on the igniter insulator can confuse the sensing system. Also they all seem to fire as a group, so all of them need to be clean because if any one of them is dirty then they will all malfunction.

Spark igniters on the burners fire continuously

When cleaning, if the control switches get damp, they will react as you describe.
Unplug the appliance, use a hair dryer and attempt to dry the switches.
Leave it unplugged overnight and try them again tomorrow.
They will eventually dry and be OK.
