?Random, intermittent, horizontal electronic noise in HP C5180 scans? (in both document pdf and image jpg files, and when used alone as copy machine)?. About month or 2 ago the problem started as just a few horizontal black lines that looked like I had included some underscores, although I had not done so. Lines were randomly located over the page. As days passed, the lines became more numerous, and some were in color [yellow and some magneta or red]. It is IMPORTANT to note that I am NOT talking about any printing using the expensive ink cartridges, only SCANNING to file in my computer. Recently, "it" started adding black [somewhat rectangular] polygons. And finally when at its worst, the entire page would be black with colored lines superimposed. My layman's analysis is that the lines remind me of "noise" lines in Television screen scan traces. I have tried rebooting computer, cleaning copy glass and the white, lid pressure plate, shutting down & powering down both the computer AND the HP Photosmart C5180 All-in-One for periods from at least a couple of minutes to as much as 8-10 overnight hours. That means NO equipment plugged in!!!!! From the start till now, the problem is intermittent - occasionally after reboot, or fresh turn-on/boot, no problem, ie., no lines. But the "clean" operation times are becoming fewer and farther between. Most operation is with the lines appearing, while "clean" operation is at best 1 in 10 or 20 attempts. I have many examples scanned and saved, and if you can tell me how to send some of them to you, I will. I have been totally unsuccessful in finding this problem in the HP help system, and due to bad experiences with manufacturer's tech support, have not tried HPs live or online tech support technicians. My brother found y'all, and I'm going to try y'all first. Thanking you in advance for any assistance you may provide, I am Sincerely, Johnny
