Your Wii will only connect properly to your wireless router by the setting WEP any others and you get problems. Set your router to WEP and encription strenth to 64bit, enter a WEP key "or passphrase to generate a WEP key" its a 10 digit password for your wireless security. Oh also nintendo will only work on chanel mode G&B not G not B but G&B.

Hope this helps.

Thanks

Matt

One option is try choosing a different type for your password...i've had the same error before and what i did was to change the password type e.g. from wpa aes-tkip to wpa-aes passphrase (this option will appear during your wii internet connection set-up as you would probably know by now) and everything right after started to fall in place perfectly, just try what password type will work for you...my wii started connecting to my router and never had the same error code ever since.

I had the same error code for ages. I fixed it by entering my primary & secondary dns addresses manually on change settings for my wireless connection and hey presto it worked. Leave everything else as automatic. Let me know if this solves it for you. If you don't have the settings, get them from your ISP.

I had the same problem but I was hooked up to an unlocked access point and the signal was strong. Rebooting the modem, then the router worked for me.

SOURCE: cant get wii hooked up to wireless internet

hi

The Wii game console from Nintendo can connect to the Internet over a broadband connection for a variety of experiences, including: Web browsing, downloads, on-line chat and visiting virtually any on-line site including Flash 7 and 8 sites. The easiest way to connect to the Internet is to use your existing wireless high speed connection.

1Be sure that your Internet connection is running smoothly and the green lights are all up. If you have a Nintendo Wi-Fi connector, you need to have the software installed and your computer connected to the Internet.

2 Turn on your Wii.

3
Select Wii Options, which is located on the bottom left of the screen. This is the button with the Wii logo

4 Select Wii Settings.

5 Click forward to the second menu screen using the blue arrow to the right.

6 Select Internet.

7 Select Connection Settings.

8 Choose an open connection, indicated by the word: "none".

9 Choose a wireless connection.

10 Determine the best option for you: Manual configuration or Search for an Access Point.

11 On Search for an Access Point, your Wii will search for a wireless network to connect to and will display a list of available networks. Networks identified with a closed padlock require authentication to join.

12 Select your network.

    • If your connection signal appears yellow or red, the stability or strength of the connection is not strong enough for the Wii's Internet needs. If possible, remove any obstacles between the Wii console and the Access Point or change the channel on your router to avoid interference.
    • If your wireless access point does not show up when you choose, Search for An Access Point, your router may have Broadcasting set to "No" or "Disable." Some routers also refer to this security as "Stealth" mode. You can either change your broadcast setting to "Yes" or "Enable," or you can manually enter the SSID in the manual setup screen of your Wii console.
  1. 13Select Save and OK.
  2. 14Select OK on the next screen and the Wii will preform an automatic connection test.
  3. 15Wait for the Wii to connect and download any needed updates.

I am trying to hook up Netflix through my Wii and i can't seem to connect to my wirleless internet in my home. My computer's have no problem getting the Wi-Fi signal.

Reboot your wireless internet and move your Wii closer to the source of the wireless internet. Oftentimes the nintendo wireless receivers are far weaker than the wireless cards in computers or other wireless devices, so moving it closer should help. If this doesn't work, you can purchase a LAN extension for you wii and hook it up to the internet directly through a wired connection. Let me know if you need anything else.

As long as your Wii can detect the "network" in your house, you can connect to the internet, and hook up to netflix wirelessly. Start your Wii and go to "wii options" in the lower left corner. Then click on Wii settings and then scroll to page two. Then click on "INTERNET". You will then go to Connection settings. From there choose wireless and let it find your router. You will need to enter the "passphrase" for the router, to connect. SAVE your settings and each time you start the Wii it will automaticly connect.

We have comcast internet and we were woundering if we can hook up the wii to the comcast internet modem through a usb cable if so we hooked it up and we dont know how to get the internet on the wii.

No you can not directly connect using the usb connection.

You need to connect either wireless through a router or you need a wii LAN adapter to connect with the Ethernet cord.

    Good Luck....
