I have a Sharp 65DR650...I got screwed on a trade and didn't do my homework. After calling Sharp I was directed to Anrews Electronics (800-274-4666) in Ca. I spoke with a nice representative who informed me that the "Optical Engine" (what you need to buy because the Color Wheel itself is not available alone) is just over $1250!!!! To make matters worse, there is a core charge of $1480, which you are charged at the time of purchase....when you ship your rebuildable core back to them you get refunded the $1480. So basically, with the Service Manual ($37) and the upfront costs on the equipment you are looking at close to $3000 out of pocket.....and that's if you put the unit in yourself!!!!!!

I also read somewhere online a guy who remved and rebuilt his own color wheel using a similar models shaft/bearing assy. Sounds tricky, but if it can be done I will try. If anyone has any info on this process PLEASE let me know!!!
I have the same problem. Just replaced lamp, powers up, good for 30 mins, then quit ... wait 5 mins it powers on again, then good for 3 mins, picture starts to flashing, then quit again... you can hear the humming sound become unstable, just like keep pushing and releasing gas when you ride a bike... Believe the light engine is broken... anyone knows how to fix this?
MINE'S 2 YRS. OLD AN RECENTLY STARTED GIVING A LOUD HUMMING NOISE WHEN TURNED ON. ALSO CRACKING NOISES WHEN ON, AND AFTER TURNING OFF.

Mine's 2 yrs. old and the repair man just said it's the color wheel. To replace is $1K+. Getting louder each week. Sharp needs to replace gratis. Raafto

Looks like we all got screwed with this TV. Mine just started after 2 years and now it's getting louder. I think I rather call my lawyer than Tech. This product is NOT build properly and someone should let the company know about it.

I have the same problem. If finally quit ... and so did the TV. It no longer powers up. The green and red indicator lights just blink. No picture. No sound. What's up?
We have had our 65in Sharp for over two years and noticed some flashing after the TV had been on awhile so we replaced the bulb. NOW we have a non-stop buzzing noise!
