Everything normal on my GE Profile Model PFSF6PKWBBB French door bottom freezer refridgerator except the water dispenser just quit dispensing water. Is it frozen? How do I fix it?

The paddle that you push the glass against to dispense water activates a microswitch. Sometimes this switch can break off it's mount and drop away from it's intended position. The microswitch operates a solenoid valve near where the water line enters the back of the fridge. Then there's the wiring in between them. The water line doesn't go through the freezer. It runs through the refrigerator in a coil of tubing then into the door of the dispenser. Check the paddle switch, the water solenoid and the wiring and you'll find the reason it doesn't work

How do you remove the in the door dispenser cup and lever for cleaning

Depends on the make/model, but usually there are a few screws that go in from the front that hold the plastic arms in place along with the spring blade. Most of the time you need to remove the decorative plastic cover around the front of the dispenser to get at them. Pay attention to how things go together, or take pics before and during the process. It will save you a lot of headaches later.

Kenmore side by side refrigerator water dispensor will not shut off

Your water control valve is defective and will need to be replaced. Even though you hear the electrical part of the valve turn off the mechanical part of the control valve is stuck open causing water to continue to flow. What is your model number? Kenmore model numbers look like this example=> 312.234567 If you can find your model number I will show you the replacement part number, Thanks Sea Breeze

Side by Side water dispenser would not stop

You will need to replace the switch. Here is the part to order.
To replace the switch:

Here are the basic instructions: " 1. Unplug the refrigerator power cord. 2. Remove the overflow grille from the housing. 3. Unsnap front cover at the bottom of the housing. (You'll need to insert the tip of a flat blade tool into the slots molded into the bottom edge of the facade and twist or pry out,you may want to use some type of pad to eliminate damage to the door panel). 4. Disconnect the front cover switch harness connector and set the cover aside. 5. Disconnect the power wire harness connector (BL/BK and W wires) 6. Disconnect the flapper door heater wire harness connector (if one is present). 7. Release the dispenser microswitch retainers and slide the switches off of their locator pins. Carefully handle the switches so they do not come apart."

Continuous flow from water dispenser

With GE it could be a bad water valve, bad microswitch that actuates the water or could be a bad main control board. You can diagnose the valve by simply pulling the wire harness off and turning the water on. If the water starts to flow with the power removed from the valve then the valve is stuck and needs replacing. If the water stopped with the power removed, check the valve's wire harness with a volt meter and see if 115vac is being applied. If so then the switch or the board are bad. You can check the switch by setting your meter to continuity and checking the com part of the switch to either the no or nc part. One should test good for continuity, the other not and with the switches buttong depressed the exact opposite. If the switch test good then the board is bad.

How do I replace the water dispenser tube for a Kenmore Coldspot model # 106.53769201. The end of the line disintegrated at the spot where you put your glass under the dispenser.

Ice makers and water dispensers are convenient to have on your refrigerator, but can also cause a lot of aggravation if they are not functioning properly.

If your water valves are not defective and you are still experiencing water or ice delays, you may have a clog in your refrigerator hose line.
Instructions and material needed to fix it up.

  • Towel,Flathead screwdriver,New water hose
  1. Turn off the water supply to the refrigerator and place a towel under the line to soak up any residual water that leaks from the hose when you remove it. Unplug the refrigerator.
  2. Disconnect the hose from the back of the refrigerator by pushing in on the collar while pulling the water tube out. If you have a model with an ice and water dispenser, you will need to disassemble the dispenser on the front of the freezer in order to completely remove the water hose.
  3. Remove the water drip tray from beneath the ice/water dispenser and locate the screws at the bottom of the cover (if any). Remove screws and pop off the panel that houses the dispenser. If the unit does not have screws, you will need to pry the cover off with a flat-nosed screwdriver.
  4. Once the cover is removed, you should be able to see the screws that hold the dispenser unit in place. Remove these screws and reposition the unit so you can free the water hose, by pulling it through the dispenser.
  5. Thread the new water line through the freezer door and reassemble dispenser unit. Push the new water hose into the fitting on the back panel, making sure it is properly seated. Turn on water supply and check for any leaks before moving the refrigerator unit back against the wall.
Good Luck and thanks for using fixya.

Kenmore 57033 Water Dispenser Broken

I had a similar problem on a frigidaire side by side. I think the water line may be freezing. My solution was to remove the filter inside the refridgerator and drain it and reinstall. This causes the water to flow into the filter and eliminates any ice in the tubing. I have not had the problem in a while. While not a true fix, it may help narrow it down.
Later on, I eventually replaced the microswitch on the door dispenser for an intermittent dispenser problem.

Hope this helps.

Water dispenser

This sounds like the microswitch that is activated by the paddle is sticking . If all the other functions appear to work ok ?? Does this particular model have an ice and water dispenser ?? Does the ice behave in the same way ? if not then i would suggest that the water valve is not closing and needs replacing instead of the microswitch
