My son's ps2 slim is not playing any games. He doesn't use it alot. The problems started after I bought him a memory card to save his games. Initally it worked now it does not allow him to play any games. Its goes on and the Browser and System Confirguration is all that we see. I've taken out the memory card but the system is still reading Browser and System Configuration. Any ideas.??

First see if it plays cds. If so, try DVD movies. If so, try a game. If it plays cds but not DVD's or games, either the laser needs to be adjusted or replaced. I got a few PS2's from friends that they used ALOT. Turned out the lasers were bad. Memory cards only store game saves and such and don't help with media booting.
Make room free on your ps3's harddisk, this is where al data on your ps3 is stored. Some games install alot game data, resulting in a harddisk thats is full. Remove game data from games that you're not planning to play any more soon.
you need to check how many gigabytes you have left in memory because every ps2 game you use has to make its own folder in the ps3 which each one uses alot of the memory so if you play alot of differnt games and are in the middle of saved games for ex. final fantasy they use lot of memory so check that and a easy way is to delete some of your non used things like pictures or demos you downloaded from th internet and things like those
it's either your ps2 or your memorycard.. my suggestion is to buy another memory card, and if the problem reveals unsolved by doing that, you shold call the manufacturer about the problem, because then it is the console itself which is the problem..
This is only a chance in getting it to work. Get some alcohol and use a butter knife and papertowel to clean the contacts on the memory card. Also get some Air in a Can from Radio shack, and blow out the Memory card slot on the console. You miight even try to check it out on another PS2.
Your question is somewhat confusing, using a playstation 2 memory card, will have PS2 game saves on it, how would you play PS2 games on a PS1 from the save, you can't.
If you just mean you are using a PS2 card for a PS1, the way a PS2 card saves data is different to a PS1 card, so it probably won't work
You can use your PS1 memory cards in the PS2. You can only use the PS1 memory cards to save PS1 games that you are playing in your PS2. You can't save any PS2 game data to a PS1 memory card
