In order to provide a correct dianosis and cure, I will need to know the model number and in which direction the bow occurs. Does the curve occur from the top and bottom toward the center or from the sides toward the center? There are different circuits involved in these case.

Please update this and I'll provide a solution.

Thanks,
Dan

If I read your response correctly, a door would look like this: )(

If that is correct, the problem is the pincushion circuit. There is a cap that goes bad in that circuit that can cause this. I don't have JVC info available to me online, so it make take a day or two to get you the parts required. Typically the part cost to repair this will be less than $10.

    Stay tuned...

Lot of red streaks across screen.Try to adjust convergance, blue aligned perfect but the red didn't

possible fuse. if the red is curved or bent, if the red is straight try covering tv with blanket so the sensors get a good reading. again if the red is bent, and fuses are good..... bad convergence ic's.... local service center

Picture looks curved on screen not flat and straight across. Images have pink and green streaks on them. We lined up the convergence as best we could but its not perfect and the screen still looks curved.

Try adjusting the convergence. If it won't move see below- (or hitting Magic Focus for some Hitachi’s)

This sounds like convergence output IC problem. convergence board would have to be removed - remove and replace 2 STK IC's and check the surrounding resistors. Shops usually $200-$400 Be sure to vote/rate me if this helped Thanks!

Red line isn't straight and there is red in background

if red is bent or curved could be a simple fuse on convergence board. possible defective red convergence ic.

Picture looks curved (concave curve) on my sony KP-46WT510

You may have a convergence problem. Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos.

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick email and they will put one together for you. Their kits includes photo instruction guides, original Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.
