@circuitworld: You claim in your profile that you repair plasma and LCD TV's, but you just told someone with an LCD to replace the convergence IC's and linear buffers. First off, convergence IC's are in rear projection TV's not LCD's, and the buffer boards are in plasma's, again, not in LCD's

@gardenwc: Typically what you are experiencing is a bad video controller or an actual faulty panel, the latter of which is not cost effective to replace.

This is actually a common problem with this model, and its surprising that it really does look like a video board (BM board) problem. It is actually a problem with the LCD panel itself.
Here is the fix:

This guy was kind enough to post it. I recently did the repair on a KDL-32M3000 and it worked like a charm. Took surprising long, but worked like a charm. I didn't have a 10 Ohm resistor laying around, so I used 2 x 4.7 Ohm resistors in series.

Convergence IC's and linear buffers need replacing, if its under warranty take it back. If not, this repair shouldn't be too expensive if the shop you take it too changes parts and not the whole board.

My Sony KDL-32M3000 has ghost (dark red) display with slow motion picture. What could be the cause and how can it be repaired. Thanks

Thats usually caused by bad flex tab bonds on the LCD panel itself. If you search for flex tab issues vidoes it will show how the pisture can get slow motion in areass as well as double images in that area.

My Sony KDL-32M3000 has dark reddish picture, checked the ribbons around the frame they're ok, power supply is ok, Hi voltage board is ok, I'm guessing the main video processing board since I don't have a...

It will be either BM board (Video Processor board) or Tcon Board (top side of panel). I have similar problem...my TV turns on, lamps turns on (you can see them from back side panel holes) but just a dark blue picture appears with no image (like picture when external input is selected without signal), no OSD appears....some times I can heard audio (using Antena).
I'm thinking getting the BM board.

Hey, i have a samsung ln32b360, just 2 months old. worked beautifully when i got it, but recently it started ghosting a little in very specific situations. then it started ghosting a lot, but only in dark...

Hi,

First,If there are double images or "ghost" images on the TV's picture, check the cable connections and make sure they are secure.Because the loose cable connection would be a chance for the ghost picture

But if the cable is perfect and if you still get ghost picture then here is the solution:

The LCD Panel is defective. The problem is the T-con board that is used to decode the signal from the main board to the LCD Panel. The only way to fix it is to replace the whole LCD Panel or T-con board if possible. The T-con will cost about 1/10 of the price as the LCD panel but except for a few new models, the T-con is not available. The LCD Panel is very expensive (usually from $600-700 for a 32" Sony).

The reason is that Sony makes the T-cons for each individual TV with different specs to match that of the LCD panel because of the low threshold for error between the LCD Panel and the T-con.

Its best to avil warranty and change the panel...

Color ghosting or shadows

The most likely cause is shorted convergence chips and possibly a few pico fuses.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer2_bing.gif Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get a convergenece repair kit with instructions from the links below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2
Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

You can see some more examples and find a fix herebb0cf99.png http://www.fixya.com/support/r2861467-solution_video_looking_whiteish_dull
