Don't use anything with ammonia you will damage the screen. Plenty of electronics stores sell cleaner specifically for LCD screens. I'd recommend that.

do not use Windex. Or any other ammonia-based product. Trust me, ammonia and TV's is not a good combination.Chances are, your instruction manual agrees with me too. That Office Depot Screen Cleaner, along with many others out there, is safe to use - gentle on the screen - and will do a great job at cleaning.Usually that stuff will be < $25 for a decently sized bottle that should last about 3 years for a 50" screen that gets cleaned weekly. Most come with a micro-fibre cloth too. Overall not a bad investment. Will work great on the smoke residue on your tv - along with any computer screens and anything else in the house. Definately worth picking up.

How do I clean the tv screen has lots of kids prints. Can I use windex window cleaner?

It's generally not recommended to use anything that has alcohol or ammonia. Any harsh cleaner could react with the plastic screen or leave fine scratches. Over time these cleaners could damage your screen. Most cleaners available at the big box stores are water based (such as Monster Screen Clean). A cleaner that is safe for computers or even some eyeglass cleaners will work. Also use a microfiber cloth, like the type you use to detail a car. Do not use paper towels.

Samsung 42in. rear projection tv HC-R4241W very dusty and dirty inside what could i use to clean, also the mirror is very dirty looks like smoke maybe? what could i use to clean it up.

claytonmurph,

Cleaning any projection tv is not complicated but requires a basic understanding of the mechanism and how it works to avoid problems. Number one on the list is to never, ever use paper towels or paper products to wipe any mirrors, lenses or the screen. You should only use lint free cloth towels, something like cloth diapers or good new shop rags. The cleaner should be something without ammonia, mild and non-abrasive. Something like non-ammonia windex. I have the entire procedure written down at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4690955-clean_lense_screen_in_projection_tv which should walk you through the process.

I recommend using non-ammonia based glass cleaners such as Windex, 409 or any similar product.   Just make sure it doesn’t contain ammonia!  Ammonia can fade the coloring in your drums over time making them look flat and du

Most people will recommend using just some distilled water or a very diluted solution of some mild detergent and water and a lint-free cloth. Do not use alcohol or ammonia based cleaners.

How do i clean outside hitachi prejection tv screen.

Using a lint free cloth, such as a diaper, and windex (no ammonia), spray the cloth to dampen it and using a swirling motion wipe the screen. Finish with a dry lint free cloth. Never use paper towels, and never spray the screen as the liquid can migrate between the different sections of the screen. Let me know if you need more help.

Is there a plastic cover on my television??

Windex has Ammonia in it. Ammonia eats plastics. It's just cosmetic, but if it really bothers you, all you can do is mask it off and touch it up with some spray paint.

How to clean screen of sanyo LCD TV

Never use a cleaning agent such as Windex on your LCD. Those cleaners often contain ammonia, which can, over time, damage your display's panel. A slightly damp, lint-free cloth, like the ones included with eyeglasses, or a microfiber cloth should do the trick. Never use paper towels! If you see streaks, follow the damp cloth immediately with a dry one. You can moisten the cloth with plain water or a commercial LCD panel cleaner, available at office supply stores. These commercial cleaners are often just 50/50 isopropyl alcohol and water mixtures, so clearly, you can mix that yourself and save a couple of bucks. Just remember never to spray any liquid directly at your screen. Moisten the cloth instead.

Please let me know if you have any further questions, thanks.
