Question about RCA 27F634T TV

Turns on and off by itself repeatedly

My RCA 27F634T TV will turn it's self on and off. We will start with it being unplugged. Say I plug in the set, turn it on. It might stay on for an hour or maybe only 15 minutes, the time varies dramatically. The tv also turns it’s self off. I have both the wake up and sleep timers turned off. There are times when the tv will stay off or on for maybe up to an hour, and other times it will constantly turn it’s self on and off. We have another rca tv that uses the same program on the remote. If you put both tv’s side by side, the problem still occurs. This I feel should eliminate the thought of outside signals. We have also put the tv in the basement and it still occurs. Any help will be appreciated Oh yeah, anyone having a wiring diagram would be nice. thanx a bunch

Same problem, two RCAs one 32V432T (YX5) - other one is yet to be determined. The listed model has degraded to the point of turning on and off with 1-20 sec delay repeatedly. Other has only exhibited this problem on occasion and operates fine otherwise.

Did i find the problem? Well yes, sort of. Knowing a little about electronics, my troubleshooting led me to beleive it was the sensor that receives the signal. The other thing i thought it might be was the plastic that pushes on the buttons. I eleminated this by removing the parts. As for the sensor, i couldn't find a part number and the best i came up with was to purchase a schematic for $40.00 I figured it was a five dollar part. With this all in mind, and not knowing for 100% sure it was the part, I called around and found a place that gave free estimates. I figured if i was correct, the fix would be $100.00. Sadly i was correct on all counts. But what could i do, I couldn't find the part number and it wasn't on the part. The repair guy said this was very common on the RCA"s If you are still interested, i could see if i could find the receipt, and see if the part number is on it. It is an easy fix if you are at all handy with a solder iron. Give me a yell if you want me to look jeff

It may be arching from the flyback. If you are familiar with tv's remove the plastic case plug it in and turn it on and see if you can see anything visual happening. Make sure not to touch anything and keep a safe distance when inspecting.

Tv turns itself off

do the self test the set has.

when green light (power) comes on and then goes off, press and hold BOTH the Menu and Input buttons for at least 5 seconds and release both buttons on the front of the set.

The power light will display a error code: for example 2 blinks, a pause and 2 blinks (this is the most common one) and it will repeat the code about 5 times.

To get it to repeat it you have to unplug set, plug it back in and turn it one and when it fails repeat the check.

Let me know what error code you find and I will tell you what may be wrong. I hope it is 2,2 as it is the least difficult to resolve.

Problem with RCA TV Model 27F634T

You almost certainly have a bad picture tube. The green screen was from one of the elements inside shorting out. The static sound you're hearing is the high voltage arcing out through the end of the picture tube to other parts inside the set. It's more economical to buy a new TV than to repair this one.

Sorry to have such good news, but this is one of the ways a picture tube can go bad, and it happens quite often.

RCA 27F634T

Have you tried to access the menu features and tried to retune the stations on digital, or are you hooked up for analog.
If you don't know about what i speak, give me a yell. I believe my remote sensor card is bad. While this might explain why you can't turn yours off, it would not explain the blank picture. If the menu does show, i would think the picture tube is O.K. if the menu does not show, there are some other things to look at.

replace the keyboard or remove the switches for channel up/down to see which one is bad. if neither does it, there are some components around the microprocessor that can cause this.
