Lost remote issue

We received this TV/DVD combo for free from an acquaintance a week ago. However, they cannot find the remote to go with it. We have a spare universal remote, but my husband doesn't know how to program the universal remote for the TV without the original. Is this right? The universal remote we have is an RCA RCU807. Help please!
