Installed sony cdx-gt280 in car, everything works

When you run a CD the radio needs more current then when you are using only the tuner.

Check that the positive power cable is connected properly and thick enough. Do the same with the ground... I have had this when the ground cable is not connected properly or too thin.

Try grounding it straight to the battery or body with a thicker cable
