I have the same problem. I did the test it recommended for putting it on a damp cloth and then pulling it across, there IS ink in it. Brand new cartridge made in Mexico. What do I DO?

Had the same problem with my 3430 and this is my solution. Probably SO not recommended by Lexmark.
I took a dry Q-tip and cleaned off the inside contacts, the copper bits in the cradle that make contact with the cartridge. Do it carefully but firmly. You don't want to break anything.
First it changed to a "incorrect Cartridge" and I thought, Now we're getting somewhere. So I scrubbed again. And I'm also printing again. I had dirty contacts.
Hope this helps

Same problem. this is annoying. I put the old cartridge back in which is identical and it sees the cartridge but is obviously empty and needs replaced.
