i have the gasket and circular spring thing out and the retaining clip that holds gasket onto from of machine

  • barry_1176 Jan 05, 2008

thought it was obvious from my 1st post that i was trying to do that, just cant get the gasket to stay in place while i sort out the spring thing

  • barry_1176 Jan 05, 2008

sorry i dont know what gasket maker is - there dosnt seem to be a lip as such, more of a 'slot' when the spring ring is in place im guessing it holds the rubber onto the edge - have looked for service manual just seems to be user manual available.
thanks for your help thus far both yourself and smilemaker

There should be clips or groves to fit the gasket into, your placing it slightly wrong.

  • Rishi Roshan Ali Jan 05, 2008

The groves should be visible from the inside it would resemble a hole or a lip

maybe you can use some gasket maker to hold it in place as well its a substance like silicon

  • Rishi Roshan Ali Jan 05, 2008

Actually anytime i change a gasket on anything a always use gasket maker to hold it in place and seal it off as well

  • Rishi Roshan Ali Jan 06, 2008

USE SILICON it works just as good as gasket maker, simply spread it along the gasket in a thin coat and stick it in.. DONT WORRY IT COMES OF EASY WHEN IT NEEDS TO CHANGE..

  • Rishi Roshan Ali Jan 07, 2008

    USE SILICON TO STICK IT

Sir, is your problem solved or do still require assistance ?

Hello!!

You need to dismantle part of the washing machine to gain access to the huge clips that hold the seal in place on the INSIDE of the machine casing.

Most machines have a few screws securing the top and when these
are removed, you lift at the rear end and slide forward a bit to remove the
    top.

Make sure that the new gasket is in it's correct
orientation before tightening the clip - otherwise you may damage the
    new gasket.

How easy to repair valve seals

Valve stem seals replacement...

Remove cylinder head, remove valve springs with a spring compresser.
Seal is just a rubber boot that you lubricate and slide over the end of the valve guide.Replace valve springs, refit head with new gasket.
Refit camshaft and re-time...
How easy this is depends on previous mechanical experience and availability of tools
If you are confident enough with refitting and timing the camshaft and have access to a torque wrench and valve spring compresser then this is a pretty simple job.

How do I remove and refit the door seal? I'm managed to remove the clip at the front but something I cannot see is attaching the rubber seal at the back.

There is another retaining band , clip, or spring holding the seal to the front of the drum, you need to remove this to remove the sea, double the seal back inside the drum to expose the retainer.

How do I change the door boot seal on a Hotpoint Aquarius WMA31N?

Ok - I will answer my own problem seeing as though I have now fitted it!
1. remove door (2 screws)
2. There is a tensioned wire loop holding the front part of the boot seal in position. - prize off the plastic cap at the 11 o'clock position, all will become clear and you will be able to remove the wire loop.
3. Remove top of washing machine (2 allen screws behind caps at the front.
4. Remove soap dispenser draw and any screws holding the front control panel and top of the door.
5. Remove bottom front plinth (just pull it off) underneath are a couple of screws holding the front panel part of the machine, remove these.
6. Remove front of machine giving you access to the steel band which locks the other end of the boot seal in position. Slacken this band right back using a nut-spinner screwdriver. Pull off the old boot and clean the lip ready for fitting of the new boot.
7. Fit new boot seal using a squirt of washing up liquid as lubricant if needed (mine didn't) to reseat the seal.
8. Refit and tension steel band.
9. Re-assemble front panel, ease boot back into front lip position then refit wire loop using a suitable pair of pliers/molegrips to crimp the retaining plastic cap back in situ.

How do you replace the door seal on a Bosch Nexxt front load washer?

Tilt the m/c back and remove the clamp securing the seal to the front of the cabinet, double the seal back inside the washer door opening, and then pull the retaining spring off the inside of the door seal which is fitted in a groove at the back of the seal.
Refit the new seal starting at the topmake sure the seal is fittef the right way up, drainage holes to the bottom.
Work the seal on all the way round the drum, and then roll the spring into the groove at the back of the seal and work it round all the way round the seal, you will find it easier if you have someone to help hold the spring in place..
Refit the seal round the front of the cabinet, and refit clamp at front.
Plz rate this solution.
Thanks.

Zanussi ZJ1217 door seal

Follow these steps to replace your door seal:

For all Free appliance repair videos visit our VIDEO TUTORIALS
Disconnect all power to the machine first!!

1 Locate the outer clamp band securing the seal to the door rim on the washing machine and examine it carefully for holes or tears. Many can be prised off with a flat-bladed screwdriver they have a spring system holding them, but some have a tensioning arrangement that has to be loosened.
2 After removing the outer clamp band, locate the inner one securing the seal to the drum and establish how this is secured. It may be necessary to loosen a clip, or you may be able to prise the band off with a flat-bladed screwdriver. Some are like very large Jubilee clips that you have to undo usually from the top.
3 Once the clamp bands have been removed, use both hands to pull the seal away from the inner drum rim. Some machines have a water spout holes that will have to be lined up. Others have a drain holes.
4 Rubbing a drop of washing up liquid into the groove on the door seal/gasket that locates on the drum makes fitting the new seal easier.
5 the new washing machine door seal should be fitted by locating the drain holes at the bottom of the seal first then push it on with both hands working opposite directions towards the top. This is quite hard if you have never done it before.
6 refit the inner band remembering this must be tensioned correctly for it to be water tight.
7 now fit the outer band and the test the machine for any leaks,
