In wash mode is it meant to rotate clockwise only, or both ways ?? At present it rotates clockwise, pauses whilst the drum free wheels slowly and then continues clockwise..

The agitator is designed to “ratchet” and turn one way but not the other. If your clothes are being twisted, that is most likely a transmission problem where it tries to agitate and spin at same time
Hi. I''m assuming you are referring to a WD1000.
To initiate the drain cycle: Rotate far right knob CLOCKWISE to Position 4. It may take 30-45 seconds to recognize the knob's new position, but then it will begin an 11 minute Slow Tumble/Pump Out cycle. During this cycle you'll see the internal drum slowly rotate CW for 60 seconds, pause, then rotate CCW for 5 secs - then repeat. All this time the pump will run and you'll hear water running down the drain. When you hear no more water you can rotate same knob to "straight up", and stop the machine. To turn power off, press the rightmost button.
the clicking of your machine is the drum rotation clockwise /anti clockwise the main problem is most likely the motor brushes worn depending on make of machine to how to remove and replace
Possible that the program selected is an easy wash as this is meant for daily wash , less soiled clothes.
If however the same situation is present in all the cycles then the capacitor to the motor must be checked as it can reduce the speed of the motor.
Also check the belt , check for friction on the drum spindle and the motor.
Let?s see if I understand. Are you in a wash/agitate cycle when this happens? If so is the wash basket rotating Clock Wise with the tumblers rotating (washer top raised for observation)? With A Spin Only cycle selected and some clothes in the wash basket. Raise the washer top from the base and observe the wash basket rotation. The wash basket will rotate CCW the spin direction. Do the tumblers rotate while the wash basket is rotating CCW? If so the load will go off balance. What series is your machine it will be the first two digits of your Serial Number i.e. 10 through 17. Was the original clutch replaced because of severe rust of the One-Way Roller clutches/bearing in the clutch Pulley assembly? Do you have the original clutch pulley assembly? Did your machine use the upper the One-Way Roller clutches/bearing ring? Your series number will help me but if you can confirm. I?ll try to help?.Rich
Hey Joe, Let’s check to see if the wash basket will rotate CCW in Spin Only Cycle with no clothes in the wash basket 1.Open the lid and rotate the wash basket by hand Counter Clockwise, CCW.The wash basket should rotate freely with no restriction. The wash basket will not rotate Clockwise, CW by hand. 2.Raise the top of the machine.Insert a flat blade putty knife approximately 2.5” from the left and right sides of the washer top, depress the spring tabs securing machine top to the washer base.Raise the top of the machine to observe the wash basket and tumbler action described in step 3. (See page 33 of the Service Manual for putty knife insertion point). 3.With the top raised start a Spin Only cycle with no clothes in the wash basket, observe the wash basket it should begin to rotate CCW does it?.Watch the tumblers, they should not rotate in spin cycle (maybe ½ turn at the start of spin cycle and that’s all).If the tumblers rotate while the wash basket is rotating you have a clutch malfunction. If the basket does spin CCW and the tumblers are rotating then you have a broken clutch spring.Let do those checks and observations and see what the next troubleshooting steps will be.Rich
