Hi,
Another one ! I just had one of these today in my real live service calls. What you are describing is almost certainly a broken blower wheel
assy. With the blower broken the auto cycle won`t advance and the unit can`t exhaust the heat and moisture sufficiently and
consequently overheats and shuts down, hence the motor buzzing when you attempt to restart the dryer. Pull it apart if you can and inspect the blower wheel. Its at the front of the unit attached to the motor shaft.
Hope that explains
something, or helps move you forward. Let me know.
Good Luck,
macmarkus :)

- Hi
Yes absolutely it could be the cause, and I'd bet it was/is. You're on the right track.
Pick up a new one, part # 31001043 approx. $25-$30US. That is the most common on maytag, magic chef, crosley, norge and many other "maytag" built dryers in relation to not drying, cutting out, tripping hi-temp thermostat's and most air flow related issues (aside from obstructed exhaust and poor venting...in my experience)
hope that helps, Good Luck

- Hey,
correction on that part number, your model indicates it would actually be # 31001317.
Sorry, you may have already checked it out anyway, my bad.
