I have windows Vista Basic Edition. I have Windows Firewall, Adaware 2007. Spybot Search and Destroy, Spyware Blaster, and Avast. I have run all and they all say no viruses etc. found. But It takes forever to access the next web page. My computer just stalls for 2-3 minutes the page comes up and then if I need to go to another page problem is the same. I have done everything suggested to clean up my computer and nothing has helped. Do I have Spyware or a virus? I am a real novice at this can someone please help!!!!

Re: computer constantly stalls
I you have installed all these programs. Then that itself could cause the problem. ununstall all these programs, go to www.free.grisoft.com, Download the free edition for virus and spyware, install these both update them on the net, run a complete scan for virus and sypware.
You should never install multiple security softwares at the same time. If you feel one software is not doing well. Uninstall it, restart your system, then install another software and do the scanning.

There are several things that can make a computer run slow that didn't run slow before:
1. the drive windows is on (typically C drive) is too full. Try going in internet explorer and TOOLS, OPTIONS and delete the temp internet files there.
2. Spyware! Get Spybot Search and Destroy, get the updates and run it then get rid of the spyware it finds. (don't be fooled by some of the other spyware removers! Some cause way more trouble and are actually spyware itself! Adaware is another one that works but be careful it is adAware and not "adware" )
3. Not enough Ram. Windows takes at least 256 mbs to run by itself. So you need to have more than that, much more if doing games, streaming videos or graphics.
Start with those three things as those are the most common problems.
Several things can slow down the computer: overheating, spyware, not enough RAM etc. If you know for sure you have corrupted files were they corrupted by a virus? You may need to reinstall Vista.
Is it slow when you boot up in safe mode? To boot into safe mode hit (usually) F8 while it is booting up. Let it completely boot into safe mode and then reboot again. Now is if it is behaving better.
To get rid of spyware download the free Spybot Search & Destroy from the net, run the update and then run it to dectect and get rid of the spyware. Spyware tries to send info which can slow down everything.
Overheating - does it feel hot? Is the fan running and pushing air?
If it worked fine before it is unlikely you don't have enough RAM. Windows itself needs at least 256mbs to run well without running other problems.
Again if you know files are corrupted, if they are windows files, you might need to reinstall vista.
This is for MyWebsearch which is considered to be spyware/malware. Best bet is to uninstall it through add/remove programs then download, install, update and run Spybot Search and Destroy (google it). Very good program for removing nasties from your machine.
With internet explorer/firefox connectivity issues.. More than likely, you\'re having virus and/or spyware related issues. Go to download.com and download adaware and spybot and run full system scans and see where that takes. I\'d stay away from **** sites too :) lol
