Ultra-compact with fast data transfer rates, the Type M xD-Picture Card is currently available with up to 2GB of storage capacity.

Not only do they support the exclusive Olympus Panorama option, they also activate art effect functions including 3D, oil painting, cartoon and watercolor. These extra functions which are used in conjunction with the software provided with your camera will add fun and creativity to your photography.

So just to clarify, you have a TYPE M XD PICTURE CARD, MADE BY OLYMPUS.

And an Olympus mju770 SW. Now, it is the software on your computer that is going to allow you to make any changes. So first, you need to open that software. Connect the camera to the computer via USB, and voila, extra functions within the software will activate and allow you to edit the pictures with special effects like watercoloring, etc.

You know, you could also achieve the same result by using a powerful image editing tool like Photoshop CS3 or even go back as far as Photoshop 7.0. Or Microsoft Photo Editing can add those effects, and that's free with any XP machine.

Downloading pictures from my olympus 850 sw

As long as the memory card was not formatted it is possible to recover the images that were accidently erased, lost or corrupted. You can go to the following website link and download an image recovery software program that is free of charge.
You want to download a program called Zero Assumption Recovery. It is a very simple program to use and many people have had much success in recovering lost images.

Data recovery is a booming industry, and many appropriate services and software can be found by searching regional phone and business directories or the Internet for terms such as "image recovery" or "data recovery".

Clean or format card error on Olympus XD card

There are most likely some "corrupted" images on your xD card. Very often a card reader "writes" data to the card while transferring or copying images into the computer. When you re-insert the card back into the camera, it doesn't recognize the new data (because it didn't create it), and gives the error, usually requiring a complete formatting be performed. There are also problems if you use a reader to rotate images, then re-install the card in the camera. The best way to accomplish what you were doing is to transfer the images into a folder on your computer, as the camera shot them (don't rotate them first). That way, you haven't altered any data on the card. For now, however, I suggest you format the card in the camera, so you can start with a "clean slate". Good luck.

From a quick look through the manuals for the FE-220 found at and the closest thing to "ART and 3D" functions in that camera are the various modes which compensate for different lighting and motion situations (Sport, Sunset, Cuisine, Indore, Fireworks, etc. - see page 12 & 13 of the second 'Basic' manual link). The thinking is likely that programs like Adobe Photoshop (pricey but powerful) or Kodak EasyShare (free but limited) - or maybe some software Olympus sells? - can be used after the fact to do special effects, etc. Hope this helps.
