I have a GE side by side refrigerator, model # GSS25VGMBWW. I just changed the board 2 months ago. Now the refrig is warm and on the freezer side, the entire back wall is full of ice, about 1/2" thick. I noticed also, the condensor motor is not running.

Like to ask you a few questions before we go too far here. I do notice you gave me more clues/information than most people do. About 95 percent of the people that visit Fixya never seem to put the most important part of resolving a problem, and that is to have the model number and who made or sold the product. I hate to waste my time on people that just have a generic anything. It tells the technicians here nothing and is a waste of our free advice! Ok, enough of the pats on the back lets get to your GSS25VGMBWW Just the letters and numbers tell me what you have. Ok now the questions. You yourself changed the mother board and when did you notice the condenser fan not working? I'm a little confused about the time line of events. Did the compressor run when the condenser fan was running? Did you hear any clicking noise or why would you change the motherboard 2 months ago. And when did the ice problem begin to appear? I can tell you that that model refrigerator is a great refrigerator and has a lot of nice features that comes in handy. Saves on power compared to other models during its production year. Your model remembers every time you open the doors. So with all those bells and whistles your model came with creates its own problem. The refrigerators with mother boards or any electronic controls should be plugged into a circuit that has a very good surge suppressor installed. I need you to put your food into a standby refrigerator and I will help you fix this our you will need to either call in a dependable service tech or later I will give my own personal Fixya ID and we will need to go one on one to solve your refrigerators problem. Answer these questions and get back with me if you want me to tell you how to fix your fridge, Let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze

- If you have replaced the mother board 2 months ago and you now notice the condenser fan motor stopping that will damage your board again until both new mother board and new condenser fan are replaced. This is the most likely reason your board has been damaged is because the condenser fan may be stopping while you are there or away. Condenser fan motors and evaporator motors are the silent killers of mother boards and compressors. I recommend you always replace a defective board and fan motor when there have been signs of the motor stopping while the compressor continues to run. You can go to my affiliate sites and click on the REPAIR CLINIC GUY or PCAPPLIANCEPARTS.COM and enter=> BOARD ASM MAIN CONTROL WR55X10942 and MOTOR DC COND FAN WR60X10209 or click the repair clinic guy=> HERE and simply enter the same part numbers. Thanks, Sea Breeze

- Danpatron, I really appreciate the great vote! If I could give customers of Fixya 5 thumps up I would for you! Rare is it someone that comes here with a part number and even more so a correct part number. You model GSS25VGMBWW is a complex refrigerator even for some of the best technicians. I have some photos of why some refrigerators won't show a glow even if you get the defrost working, The pictures i have now ar too large to upload here but will be soon uploaded to one of my appliance repair advice pages. That is a lot of work keeping 16 sites running and also supporting three of the sponsors here at Fixya. Your model refrigerator with the rear panel in the freezer removed and defrosted the defrost heater would be easy to spot if burned out because the element inside the heater is surrounded with a glass tube and if burned out will show throw through the glass. Thank You and thanks for using Fixya, Sea Breeze

Pull the refrig out and remove the 8 " x 10 " panel . Behind this panel , is the main control board ( you already know , since you changed it ) . Unplug the refrig . Remove the BLUE plug from the board , with 3 larger wires going to it . Looking at the blue plug , the sequence will be wire1,wire2,space,wire3 . Get a short piece of insulated wire , and strip about 1/4 inch from each end . Insert 1 end into wire2 , and the other into wire3 . Plug the refrig back in . After about 3 min , look in the freezer , at the bottom , behind the crisper , look for a red glow . If no red glow , unplug the refrig , and reassemble the plug and cover . This no glow , indicates a shorted defrost heater WR51X10055 . It is also advisable to replace the defrost thermostat ( pt. number WR50X10068 ) when replacing the heater . To access these parts , you will have to remove the inside rear wall of the freezer . The heater , is at the bottom of the coils , held on with 2 screws , and the thermostat , is the 1 " cylinder , with a blue and pink wire going to it , clipped on the top left of the coils .
If you do get a red glow , then the # 4 thermistor is bad . This tells the main control board , the temp of the coils , if they need defrosted , when they are thru defrosting . This thermistor is the 1 " long , torpedo looking piece , clipped on the top left of the coils , with 2 white wires going to it . Part number WR55X10025 . It would be advisable to also replace the # 5 thermistor , located at the bottom of the freezer , slightly in front of the drain , also with 2 white wires going to it , slid into a housing . This thermistor , is the freezer thermistor , which tells the control board , the freezer temp , when to cycle off , associated with the freezer fan speed also . Also , the condensor fan , is the fan behind the refrig , down by the compressor . Is this the fan you are refering to , as not running ?
