Re: Flickering display

If it happens with external monitor then it's probably video card.
most likely a cold solder joint on the board. OR if it's a plug in type board it might just need to be re-seated.

Hi, The screen flickers at the taskbar end every 2 second. Lenovo R400, 7443-TGA. This my second time using the lenovo thinkpad product with the same problem. Why lenovo screen always problem. I never.....

Hi techsyss,

I see that you are having issue with your taskbar flickering as you mentioned in the notes.

I would be more than glad to assist you regarding your concern.

>Try to reinstall your Video Drivers on the machine or poassibly update the Video drivers.

>Try chagning the resoltion on your system try setting it to a resolution that is lower than what you actually have and see if the flickering will still be occuring.

>Also try to boot into the BIOS of the machine to see if the Flickering occurs in BIOS as well, to boot into BIOS upon powering the machine keep on tapping F1 till you get a blue screen saying phoenix BIOS as long as the word BIOS is there you are in the right page. just check if the flickering happens there, if it does then the issue is not software but most likely hardware it can be the LCD itself or the Cable conenction of the LCD to the Video on the motherboard.

>if the flickering is present in BIOS most likely you will need to have the system serviced for proper repairs and diagnostics.

I hope this helps.

Have a nice day,

How do I repair a toshiba m305 that has a flicker at the bottom of the screen

Unplug AC Charger. Kindly check the bottom part of the display if it still flickering while the ac adapter is unplugged. If system stops flickering issue was due to unstable charger, you may need to reseat the power cord or maybe replace the ac adapter itself.

On the other hand if display still flickers after you disconnect the charger kindly reinstall the display
driver. Since I don't have any idea what operating system youre using right now, I put all the link for all the available os for the graphic card driver.

For windows 7 (both 32 and 64 bit) Click here
For Win vista os with Intel Graphic card Click here.
For Win vista os with ATI Graphic card Click here.
For Win XP os with Intel Graphic card Click here.

Make sure to restart the computer after the installation. If same problem occured, please contact the computer manufacturer to have the video card replaced.

Should you have any other questions please leave a comment.

Display flickers on boot. then goes black

Before making any decision on whether it's a hardware failure, please try and boot from a CD or DVD (recovery disc). If it does successfully boot from an external disc - and there is no flickering problem, then the hardware parts are okay. In that case, please go to this link: for more information on what to do when you can't enter into your operating system and how to fix malwares that might be causing the flickering. If you find my ideas satisfactory, please do rate me. Thanks

Display is flickering and goes out and the screen become black. I attempted to hook up external display and get the same results. I think the issue may be a bad inverter card? System has winXP Home...

try tapping the LCD bezel, if you sense that the LCD would flicker, your hunch might be correct about the bad inverter card. it would also depend if the LCD type has an inverter. or worse case scenario - LCD is already failing...

Hope it helps!

Flickering screen on startup

Sounds like hardware. Several possibilities come immediately to mind:

1) Backlight is going bad. (It's a fluorescent light).
2) Bad inverter
3) Loose or bad cable in laptop hinge

If the picture is OK using an external monitor, it's probably one of those three.

I've used these guys before for screen repair: Unknown document title.

Flickering screen of my lifebook s series

This sounds like a loose connection. If you can press on the back of the lid and it flickers or stops flickering, then it's definitely a connection problem. You will need to take the bezel around the screen off, the screws are hidden under small sticky tabs or the small rubber bumpers. Then take the screen loose and check the connection on the back. Replace the tape on the cable, if there is any.

Lcd Flickering

Sounds like the driver board for the backlight is going there a spot on the screen part of the case ( usually at the bottom) that feels much warmer than the rest?
