My ipod is not working says data corrupted

iPod shuffles are pron to become broken or just messed up. It happened to my ishuffle. It wouldn't charge and therefore wouldn't turn on. There is nothing you can really do if the data on the shuffle is corrupted. The thing that probably happened was that you downloaded a song that contain a virus. What you will probably are going to have to do is do a virus scan of the virus and to remove it. I don't know how that is going to work out since it is a ipod.

it could be your flash memory is corrupt or that you need to reformat and re-install the latest ipod/itunes software. if you continue having problems you should contact your local apple store they should be able to figure out the problem.

Hello there i have a problem with my mini apple ipod, is corrupted but dont know what to do,to recover it back.some times it says the i/o device error is corrupted. need your help badly to recover my ipod.

The first stop is to update your version of iTunes. Then connect your ipod to this and click the Restore button. I'm having to assume from the error message that you are connecting to a PC and not a Mac. That being the case it is likely the drivers have become corrupted rather than the device itself. Reinstalling iTunes should rectify this. Additionally try the Apple iPod Reset Utility available here.

All the best

Apple iPod shuffle

Hi Mayur,

The ipod shuffle have a switch button below it aside from the "play" button that you have to press at least two times after you have switched it "on". Note that when you switch your iPod "on", you should see a green light. If it's a green followed by 3 orange blinks, your ipod might be corrupted and will need to be restored.

Dont forget to charge your iPod and of course, load some songs to it.. =)

IPod shuffle Second Gen problem

Apple recommends that iTunes customers using Windows Vista upgrade to iTunes 7.2 or later. If you are using an iPod with iTunes on Windows Vista, please review the important information in Knowledge Base document

Ejecting iPod using Windows Explorer on Windows Vista may corrupt iPod

Some customers may see the following message when connecting an iPod to iTunes 7.2 or later on a computer running Windows Vista.

Microsoft has released an update for Windows Vista that addresses a situation where ejecting iPod from Windows Explorer or by using the "Safely Remove Hardware" feature in Windows Vista could corrupt your iPod. Apple recommends Windows Vista customers who own an iPod install this software update. For information on how to install this Microsoft hot fix, refer to the "Update your software" section below. Tip: iPod can always be ejected safely by choosing Eject iPod from the Controls menu within iTunes.

Update your software

Microsoft has made this Update for Windows Vista (KB936824) available via Windows Update as well as a separate download package. To download this update via Windows Update follow the steps below:

  1. From the Start menu, choose Control Panel.
  2. In Control Panel, select Check for updates in the Security section. If the Control Panel is in Classic view, open Windows Update.
  3. Click the View available updates link and be sure that Update for Windows Vista (KB936824) is checked.
  4. Click Install.

Green/orange flahing light on IPod and no music.

From Support Website. If the front status light on your iPod shuffle blinks orange and green when you press any button, then your iPod shuffle is experiencing some type of error. Try these troubleshooting steps to resolve the problem. To troubleshoot the iPod shuffle error light: 1. Turn off your iPod shuffle 2. Wait a few seconds 3. Turn your iPod shuffle back on again If this does not resolve the problem: 1. Check to make sure there are songs on your iPod shuffle 2. Use iTunes to add songs to iPod shuffle and try again If your iPod shuffle continues to display a blinking orange and green light, use iPod Updater 2005-02-11 or later to restore iPod shuffle, and then add songs with iTunes. If your iPod shuffle still shows a blinking orange and green light after trying all of the above steps, your iPod shuffle may need service. Best of Luck.
