PS3 will load game but freezes during game. Tried Blue Ray disc as well and it froze also. Tried using a Game Doctor cleaning disk to clean the laser lense but that didn't work. Any suggestions?

Try cleaning the disc and then cleaning the blu-ray laser using a lens cleaner. What is most likely happening is that the disc cannot be read resulting in your Playstation crashing.

You might not actually need to spend any money on a PS3 repair guide at all- instead you will need to purchase a new Blu Ray drive (or laser lens itself and simply replace the lens) But even before you do that try the following things:

• Clean your game disks
• Clean your Blu Ray drive (get one of those laser lens cleaning kits on eBay or Amazon)

If your PS3 is reading DVD's and CD's, but NOT any type of BLUE-RAY media.....95% sure it's a faulty laser. The Backwards compatible units are equipped with a RED laser for DVD and CD reading. The Blue Ray Diodes are faulty..especially in the earlier production models. This was due to the shortage of parts during production, so SONY out sourced from multiple producers of BR laser units.

My 80gb , 4 usb, Backwards combatibility unit started doing this. The game froze, system became unresponsive, wouldn't show the the Disc ICON in the XMB for PS3 games. When the games did load they would play for a few mins then freeze, or error code 80010514 would appear.

I got the laser replaced by a reputable repairman, now the system works without fault. It's been running for hours with no problems.

Get the lens replaced by either SONY or someone who knows what they are doing....also give your PS3 a good dusting everyday. When the Laser unit gets too hot the diodes malfuction and eventually fail.

It sounds like your laser is going bad. This is a common issue for the PS3. The tell-tale sign is it starts reading less and less and having more errors.

Hi there,
Most PS3 systems end up doing this due to an over heating of the laser lens. Let me explain: The laser lens in the PS3 is made to read mainly Blue Ray games. The movies need to be read faster than the game discs which causes it to work harder thus the problem arising.
Sometimes, your lucky enough for this to only be a dirty lens problem due to rental movies which are most of the time, if not always, dirty.
Have you tried a lens cleaner kit?
This is the CD-ROM with a small brush on it to clean your laser lens head.
This problem has happened to me in the past and this solved the problem.
It is a common problem for any lens reading console.

This is the error code for disk errors: "An error occurred during the start operation. (8001002B)". If the disc is clean, maybe the laser is dirty. Use a lens cleaning CD to give the laser a clean (cheap to buy). You can also try deleting the temporary game data (using Game Data Utility) and reinstall the game.

make sure your discs are clean then try again if same occurs put a cleaning disc into your console this will clean any unwanted dust particles if same occurs again you may have a problem with your laser that reads discs i had same problem

If game freeze the reason is not complicate to explain.
Unable to read media and this mean the laser is skipping some step during the reading process.This can be caused by a scratched disk or a dirty laser or both.The ps3 laser have basically 2 laser Diode.One is red and one is Blue.Some time if a diode died you can see the machine reading ps2 game but no ps3 and blu ray.If the red diode die you are able to read blu ray but no ps2.I suggest to clean your laser first and if this will not work replasce your laser

You are Partially right.
Ps3 actually work with 2 different diode laser inside.one is Blue and one is red and both working on 2 separate circuit but with the same coil.i do believe the blue diode is dead or defective and that`s why you are able to read dvd(regular one) but no blu ray dvd or ps3 games.Try to clean your lens or replace your laser and you will resolve your problem
