I am using a Trutech combo DVD/VCR player (not sure of the model as I am subletting a furnished apartment). I made sure the VCR and DVD were empty and I held down a button on the remote labeled "100/P-SCAN." After a minute or two, the screen righted itself and the word "interlaced" popped up on the screen. Now it works just fine!

Please go to the following link for an exact definition and how it is applicable to your situation. Please read all 3 pages of information!!!!! The short of it is, is that your TV may not be set up for progressive scan. Try turning off progressive scan on your DVD player's menu and see if this works.

Progressive scan mode is used by DVD players to artificially scale standard resolution DVDs to HD resolution, usually 720i. Is your set capable of receiving HD resolution? If not, that is probably why you are getting the blue screen.

Cannot turn off progressive scan mode on blue screen to play dvd

If you have not already seen this or done it - it worked for us:

On page 18 of the user manual under Progressive scan there is a Caution which says - If you set Progressive Scan to On in error, you must reset the unit. 1) Remove any disc from the unit and close the disc tray. See that "dISC " is displayed on the display window. 2) Press STOP (9) and hold it for more than five seconds before releasing it. The video output will be restored to the standard setting and a picture once again be visible on a conventional analog TV or monitor.

an image will only be visible on a Progressive Scan compatible

playing. Next, press the STOP (x) button again and hold it

How do I turn off Progressive scan?

Hi, follow the steps it may help !! Press STOP button. ? If playing a disc, press the STOP button twice so that ?STOP?, appears on the display. Press and hold P.SCAN button on the remote control for over 5 seconds. ? Pressing and holding the button for over 5 seconds will select "Progressive Scan" and "Interlace Scan" alternately. ? To set P.Scan mode for DivX discs, press the P.SCAN button on the remote control for more than 5 seconds with no disc in the unit (?'NO DISC" on the display), then load the DivX disc and play. regards sreejith
