Bookmark this site for future reference.

Click on Software & Driver Downloads. Then select your operating system from the list. (Note: For many OS there is a link to purchase a new CD.)

You can choose the basic driver or full feature software to download. Click on the one you want. The full feature is a large file so be patient.

When you click on the file you want it will take you to a verification page to select Download Only or click on the file name. A download window will open. I suggest you choose Save. When you do, another window will appear and you can direct it to save the file to your Desktop.

When the download is complete, close the download window. Close all open programs. Prepare your printer: Ink, paper, power ON.

DO NOT CONNECT THE USB CABLE YET.

Run (double-click) the file that you downloaded to install the driver and other software. When prompted by the installlation, connect the USB cable. Follow the rest of the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Go to the HP site and download the driver for that printer.
