Re: Aspirre 3100

Could you explain some more of what you are looking to do. Is it get a key board and mouse working on a laptop, If so when you plug the key board or mouse into the system while the system is on it should recognize the device and install what is needed, If not plug in your items and go into control panel and add hardware button and follow directions. I hope that Help You out If not try a little more info and I will be back to check it out later. Sorry Your having problems and let me know Ok Thanks

Mouse and keyboard freeze.

its a very common hardware fault with these laptops, can you open setup or bios? that is opened right when the power is turned on the and screen says press F2 to enter bios or setup, if you can't enter bios then you have a faulty motherboard, usb ports don't work either? (usb keyboard and mouse don't work?)

Cursor stuck in the middle of screen!!!!!

this happened to me. try pressing the Fn key (mine is in blue, next to the left control key on the bottom of the keyboard) and hold it while you press the F7 key and release. try moving your mouse. Those two buttons together turn the touchpad device on and off.

My acer 3100 keyboard and touchpad arent working. any help?

It's possible that something uninstalled the devices from Windows. You can try connecting an external keyboard and mouse, then check the Device Manager to see if it flags any hardware problems.

Another possibility is that the flat cables connecting the keyboard and touchpad to the main board have come loose. To check the cables you need to remove any screws securing the keyboard and pop off the top edge trim to lift the keyboard up.

Same problem with aspire 3100 wlmi

Hello marpaungroy,

How are you doing? Try the steps below. In 80% of the cases the issue will be resolved.

Here are the steps:

Step 1: As you said you cannot use the key board and mouse there is no way you can go to bios to do bios default. so At the bottom of your laptop you have two compartments. One willbe the RAM compartment and other will be hard drive compartment.

Remove both out of the laptop. Turn on the laptop. wait for 1 minute than turn off the laptop.

Now remove the batter as well and also unplug the AC adapter. press and hold the power button for 1 minute. This will remove static charge.

Now put every thing back. I mean reinser the RAM, HARD DRIVE, AC ADAPTER and BATTERY.

Now turn on the laptop And do a complete PC recoverey using the Recovery CD. I mean do a complete format of the system using the CD.

I am sure in 80% of the cases this should resolve the issue.

If the issue persists than it is a clear sign of hardware malfunction. Mother board needs to be replaced.

Thank you. Best of Luck.

Acer 3100 Notebook Touchpad issues

Dust has built up in and around the touch pad. Purchase a can of pc dust buster, and give it a blast in and around all keys and the touchpad. You may have one sticky key which is causing the pad to behave erratically.
