This is new install of Premiere 6.5 that I have used for years on other computers.

Initial Premiere screen appears. I click "install"

Vista pops up a screen requiring permission to install the program. I give OK

Same Premiere screen appears again, followed by the Vista permission screen.

    This continues over and over

Hi,

Could you please tell me what happens when you try to install?

The problem is that Premiere 6.x was not designed to run Vista so hence the problems. Adobe has addressed this issue by releasing Premiere Pro CS3 which will definitely run on Vista.

Did you try running in compatibility mode?

Do you meet the system requirements?

  • 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
  • 1 GB of system memory
  • 40 GB hard drive with at least 15 GB of available space
  • Support for DirectX 9 graphics with:
    • WDDM Driver
    • 128 MB of graphics memory (minimum)
    • Pixel Shader 2.0 in hardware
    • 32 bits per pixel
  • DVD-ROM drive
  • Audio Output
  • Internet access (fees may apply)

What do you mean by it won't install? What's it doing? Is this a new install or upgrade?

I did some research and it appears that there are some compatibility issues with Adobe Premiere 6.5 being used with Vista.

How to download adobe flash for windw vista free

Download the latest and greatest version of the Adobe Flash Player. After it finishes installing, you go to a site featuring Flash content and are greeted with a message notifying you that you need to install Flash Player, but didn't you just do that? To properly update your Flash Player, you need to run the installation as Administrator. Follow these steps to properly install Adobe Flash Player:

For Vista (32 bit):

1. Open Computer.

2. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\.

3. Scroll down and open the Macromed directory.

4. Open the Flash directory.

5. Right-click FlashUtil9b.

6. Select Run as Administrator.

7. When the UAC prompt appears, select Continue.

8. Follow the Flash Player installation wizard.

For Vista (64 bit):

1. Open Computer.

2. Navigate to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\.

3. Scroll down and open the Macromed directory.

4. Open the Flash directory.

5. Right-click FlashUtil9b.

6. Select Run as Administrator.

7. When the UAC prompt appears, select Continue.

8. Follow the Flash Player installation wizard.

Once the wizard completes, Flash Player has been properly installed and will now function properly.

Photoshop does not work on vista

When Adobe began shipping Photoshop® Elements 5.0 and Adobe Premiere® Elements 3.0 software in September, final versions of Microsoft® Windows® Vista were not available to complete the testing required to ensure compatibility.
Shortly after Windows Vista becomes available to consumers, Adobe plans to release updates for Photoshop Elements 5.0 and Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0 to provide compatibility with Windows Vista.
Updates for existing Photoshop Elements 5.0 and Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0 owners will be available as a free download from adobe.com, and updated Vista-compatible versions of Photoshop Elements 5.0 and Premiere Elements 3.0 will become available in the same timeframe.

There is no known software compatibility with adobe premiere and vista. The problem will be that you might have changed any setting in vista for thumbnails. I know vista is much different than windows. So, have a look around at the settings.
