Question about Lexmark P4350 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Scanner problems Not used scanner for some time, but worked ok then. Now if you scan from the All-in -One, the image is seen on the screen, but it won't send it to the PC. If you try a preview from the PC nothing happens. If I go into My Computer, Scanner, and right click and choose Scan, I get a message to the effect "please install software". If I go into the Lemark mtce menu and do a "External USB test" in comes up "DPS not detected". I've unistalled and re-installed twice, no joy. I recently installed "Piacasa" could this have any bearing on it? I can copy manually, and print from a file on the PC as normal. Windows XP Home SP1, MTIA, Rob

Re: Scanner problems

What you can do is restore windows to a previous date

go to start , then to programs , accessories, system tools, you will see system restore, click on that and reset window to a
previous date .

your scanner should work then.

Make sure the the scanner software is properly installed , you can check it under device manager, because if the scanner driver is not installed it wont really work..

Hope that helps........

I am trying to scan a document and it is not working, I have a hp photosmart c4280 printer. How do I install a usb cord

Place the document or image into the scanner for scanning. A scanner with a paper feeder will only receive flat papers and photographs, but a flatbed scanner opens to accommodate books, fabrics and leaves along with flat papers. There is even a attachment for feeding photo slides into flatbed scanners.
  • Step 2 Start the scanning softwaremag-glass_10x10.gif. If the scanner does not engage the software automatically, press the "start" or "scan" button, or click the scanner icon on the computer screen to initialize the software.
  • Step 3 Activate the scan. Click the "file" menu and select "acquire," "import," or another practical choice that applies.
  • Step 4 Preview the item to be scanned. Most scanners have a preview option. This will show the scan area inside dotted lines. The lines can be moved with the mouse to relocate, enlarge or crop the scanning area.
  • Step 5 Set the resolution for images by number of dots per inch (dpi). For computer screen viewing, 100 dpi should suffice. Use 200 to 300 dpi for items to be printed.
  • Step 6 Use the appropriate setting for scanning black and white text. If the scanner does not show a preset for text, use "line art" or "black and white" at 300 dpi. Then use the optical character recognition (OCR) program to convert the image of the text into a file for word processi

Just need the steps to scan, I've never used the scanner.

You need to open your scanner program up, you will see a window representing a Scanner Platen, Open scanner and place image Face Down on glass, and close lid. Now click on "Preview" this will scan the image and allow you to "Select" exactly what via resizable selection box, that you can grab with your cursor and set it to whatever you want to actually scan. Now click the "Scan" button, this time it will do a"Final Scan" and ask you where to save it, usually it is saved as a JPG, if other formats are available use whichever one you wish. may have JPG, BMP PDF. Save your image. Now you can use this image how you want. Also once a scanner is installed you can scan into say Word, or Adobe, Publisher etc. Document by using the scanner. A Twain driver is installed so it can communicate between applications.

I WANT TO USE THE SCANNER BUT, I DON'T NOW HOW, It go to the printer all the time, could you please help me ? I have the EPSOM STYLUS BX300F PROFESSIONAL, PRINTER,SCANNER,FAX,PHOTOCOPIER.

Basically, you can use the scanner in two ways. Please open the scanner cover and place the document or image you want to scan face down.

    1. Press the SCAN button (color button = color scanning, black button = monochrome scanning). then your scanner will scan the document or image in the scanner tray.

    2. Go to the scanner program installed in your computer when you installed the printer. Open it and then click the command button SCAN.

Note: Make sure that you installed the Scanner software when you installed the printer. Without the software, your scanner will not work. Please reinstall the printer including the scanner software.

You have a scanner problem.  You might try and make sure you're using the right plug for it.  If you can figure out how to take the glass off, you should try cleaning all the glass and mirrors.  You should also clean the area just above where the scanner rests when it's not being used (you'll see a white strip there).  If none of this works, you'll probably need a new scanner.  Junk the thing.

    Help w/ scanner

You should have the manual for the scanner and the CD.Study the manual with care. Make sure the software is loaded into the computer. You can scan from this or another program such as a photo editor. Be aware that any scan into the computer will be an image file[ JPEG/BMP] and only only be seen as a photographic image in an editor Word processor will not reveal it unless you deploy an character recognition programs - but that's another story
