STOLEN TOMTOM 720 IF WE STOP BUYING THESE THINGS, UNTIL THEY PUT SOME PROTECTION IN THEM FOR THE REAL OWNERS MAYBE THEY WILL THINK TWICE WHEN DESIGNING THEM. LIKE A TRACKING SOFTWARE THAT LINK UP WITH WIRELESS AT ANY WIFI LOCATION IT COMES ACROSS AFTER BEING STOLEN AND REPORTED. HEY DUMB ***** USE THIS AS A SELL FEATURE '' NOW THE TOM TOM COMES WITH WIFI CONNECTION AND WIFI PROTECTION'' WOW THAT WOULD MOVE ME TO GET THEIRS KNOWING A THIEF WOULD NOT STEAL MY GPS BECAUSE IT WOULD GET HIM CAUGHT!!!! TOO EASY

Hi coolroof,

I know you didnt ask a question but your solution is excellent (i posted a similar one about stolen gps systems)

if i may chime in with my two cents, i think i know why they dont make them traceable and i can answer it in one word.

"REVENUE"

if they actually started making them theft proof so these ****wads stop stealing them, then there revenue would drop like a rock, so theres no real incentive to implement something so brillant.

every time one is stolen, another is bought to replace it. pretty clever i must say.

typical business

thats IMHO ofcoarse.

Trying to do a map update. but my computer will not recognise the gps, do i need to download a driver for go 720 ??

I had this issue with my Go930 and solved it for Tomtom!! Firstly, you need to ensure that you have the most up to date version of Tomtom Home, from here (http://www.tomtom.com/services) and then before you dock your 720, put an SD card in. It doesnt have to have anything on it and you should only only have to do this the first time. Tomtom home will then ask you which device you wish to update, internal HDD or external. Choose the internal HDD and you are sorted

I Have no CD-ROM for the Tomtom GO 720 I just purched.

The cd that normally comes with your TomTom is to load TomTom Home onto your computer, and maybe the owners manual, both of which you can download for free from TomTom.

TomTom 920 GPS Antenna is not working (the black/orange indicator does not rotate)

After two attempts and no real solution do you think it is wise to go for a third time around? You should be insisting an an exchange since you have paid twice for a repair and they did not fix it! Get real!

Spoken Address problem with my TomTom GO 720 GPS

i had the same problem, On the new aps with the latest software v8 this is disabled as tomtom dont advertise this feature in Australia. Phone tomtom cust support and ask to lodge an official complaint. The guy at tomtom said if there are enough complaints from owners they would look at supporting this feature. I see it as a safety feature so removing it is a step backwards for tomtom.
Hope this answers your question
