Problem for HP LaserJet 4 plus Printer

Solid lines print across the paper

In the last two days, when printing, solid lines cut across the paper. No rhyme or reason that I can see. I've reset the printer, still nothing

- It isn't printing the lines on every page. It may print a few pages and then put three lines on a page, print another odd number of pages and then print one or two lines on the page. It it were the drum, wouldn't the lines be consistent?

It is usually caused by the drum. The lines are vertical? perhaps the drum was scratched and needs to be replaced.

If you replaced the toner before the lines appears, the printer needs to be cleaned.

- Sounds like the printer needs maintenance. (Cleaning may fix the problem). Any issue with the drum will make lines or marks on each page.

Do you get straight lines? Curves? Ghosts images?
