If the camera's no longer under warranty, review some of the links on the following blog post:

There's a lcd replacement linked there for an S40, it might be similar to your camera. If your camera's screen has not been shattered, recommend first trying to jiggle or reseat the screens ribbon cable to see if a bad connection might be the problem.

Can I get a time date stamp on my power shot s80? if yes, how do I do it. I went through the menu functions with no luck. Thanks, Larry

To the best of my knowledge no Canon models enable putting time and/or date directly onto images.
However, you can do it in Zoom Browser - one of the software programs that comes with the camera.
1. Open an image you want to print out or save with date/time printed .
2. Click on Edit > Insert Text
3. In the drop down window move the cursor (in the form of a cross) to where you want the date/time printed and left click.
4. Click the butoon marked Import Shooting Date/Time - on the right of the window.
The date and time will be printed on the image immediately in a white border the size of which you can adjust.
NB All digital cameras store a great deal of information with the image at the time it is shot. This is known as EXIF data/file and it is the date and time recorded here that will go onto your image i.e. the actual time and date it was taken.

Remove the card and the all the buttons...leave the camera alone for 20 minutes...insert the card and then the battery...turn it on. If the screen comes on, go into the menu and scroll to "reset" and follow the on-screen instructions.

Bad connection with PC? driver? canon s80 and windows xp

It's very hard to troubleshoot software problems online, and it likely is a software issue. But why put up with the headaches of bad software in the first place? Please see the following blog article, as it describes the use of a card reader as a much easier, faster, and less error prone way to download your photos. In fact there are several important reasons discussed in the article for using a card reader vice downloading from the camera. USB Card readers are also very inexpensive these day, with cost virtually not an issue:

The screen is black i hear a clicking and moniter says e18

E18 means you have a mechanical failure it's depend from the zoomunit. If you can fix it by yourself you can clean the small gearbox that is driven the zoom assy sometimes ther is sand or contamination partikels in it.
Otherwise you must replace the zoomunit it's not so expencive.

My Canon Power Shot S2 1S will not take pictures because the lens will not go back in or out. The screen is black unless I review recent pictures

Do you get an E18 error? If so, then the lens motor is bad, or you have contamination in the gears (sand, dirt, etc), or mechanical failure from dropping the camera. This will require repair by Canon or other camera repair services.

Canon parts and repair service is excellent. All the parts of canon powershot is readily available in the market for reasonable price.

For your reference i am giving you the site where they take up these kind of problems.
the website is " ".

  • Powershot SD200, SD300, SD400, SD630: $100 (the LCD for these models is more expensive)

I have a Canon Power Shot A570 IS and everytime I turn it on the screen is all blurry and the shapes can hardly be made out. This is how the pictures come out too.

Sorry to say that this sounds like failure of the camera's CCD imager. This is not something that you can repair yourself. Canon will repair this for you free of charge if still under warranty. Even if no longer under warranty, still recommend contacting Canon, as this should not happen in a newer model camera (be nice, and maybe they'll be nice about it too :-).

If in US or Canada, Call 1-800-OK-CANON. Anywhere else, contact Canon support through
