Sound on SR04 fades in and out.

After my SR04 is on for a while, the sound begins to fade in and out. When it fades out, the display on the SR04 reads "Acquiring Signal."

Re: Sound on SR04 fades in and out.

I have the same unit and it has a faulty antenna connection, it is too lose. Not sure what to do about it but obviously not a good purchase.

2012 toyota highlander sirius radio constantly loss of signal

I have similar issue. Signal easily lost whenever there isn't a truly clear path to sky. My old cheapie XM radio add-on was MUCH better. I'm taking this back to my dealer tomorrow for other issues with the "top of the line" DVD/NAV/XM system. Such as it won't read the data on most CD's and display names of tracks (maybe 1 CD will display out of 10); and the way the radio truncates the Sirius/XM titles, etc. to much less than the full available screen (my cheapie add on did a better job). For $2,000+ bucks this is a very disappointing audio/GPS system. Sound is mediocre as well. This must be a huge profit center for Toyota -- cheap components + high price = $$$ for them.

The Skyfi3 receiver will "self-mute". Is the mute frequency the same as other phone devices or TV remote controllers? I have the Skyfi3 in the kitchen, could an appliance cause this?

Yes, if you mean XM reception. Your microwave oven is actually a radio transmitter near the Satellite Radio frequencies and when you use your microwave, it WILL wipe-out XM radios. Even my neighbor can do it to mine! Check it out - boil some water and watch your signal fade in and out! You're going to want to move the radio, or use a 'repeater' for it, or use the playback of prerecorded.

Won't shut off and doesn't hold selected frequency

Push the Volume UP and MODE button at the same time and it will go off. Upload the latest firmware update from the XM radio site.

No I did not solve the problem but I will simply by taking the radio back and gettign my money back

I'm sorry, I have no intention of spending more money to find out how to fix a faulty radio which may not be repairable to begin with.

Signal Fading In and out

Most of the Xact models use the standard Sirius antenna. Unfortunately Xact no longer supports satellite radios. You can get a replacement antenna from any Sirius dealer and see if that works. Sounds like the antenna wiring might be broken or shorted out.
