Question about Sony SA-WX700 Subwoofer

Sony Sub-Wolfer SA-WX700 has no sound come out, but has green power light

Hi. My Sony SA-WX700 has no sound coming out. I have power to it. Some past postings say it may be a bad resistor. I'm not sure if that's the case, but I'm going to go that route as my first attempt to troubleshoot. I don't see any fuses that would make me consider trying that out first. My question is if I'm troubleshooting this right by replacing the resistor? Also, when I open up the speaker, where would I find the resistor, and is there an indicator that it's bad?

I forgot to mention that it always worked fine. We would notice a slight delay in sound when popping in the IPOD to the Receiver, but sound would eventually work. That's when we also noticed it stopped working...when we placed the ipod in. I'm not sure if that would have done anything. Just throwing it out there.

Thanks,

My SA-WX700 stopped working about a month ago. It still powers on but there's only a low popping/clicking noise coming out of the sub. I'm not electrically inclined so I didn't want to open up the sub yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Same poblem with mine.
My son had been plugging in his iPod and playing music.
    The sub no longer works.
The light comes on, the amp clicks in, no bass extension.
I elminated the potential cable problem by switching with another sub.
    It worked fine.
Is it possible the Ipod maybe caused some kind of feedback???

Same Problem and same story. I had plugged my Ipod into the tuner and seemed fine. I had done this probably 5 times over the course of a month and then suddenly sub won't make sound. Still turns on, fuses are fine, no indications of a problem at all. Hooked sub up to another receiver, still didn't work. Tried new cord still didn't work. I don't know if it has anything to do with the Ipod or not..

Humm noise coming from 10" 100watt sub only plugged into wall...

If you're using it first time, check the sub cable u're using, low-quality rca cables can easily pretend to act as an antenna and pick up parasite and hum from electric lines or from other devices, also another factor is too-long cable. If u're using a cable longer than 5m, it should be really hi-quality and well screened. Or the hum is inevitable. I hope this helps.

Bad output IC or voltage rectifier are the most likely at fault.

The switching power supply transistors have shorted out. Other parts may be gone also. A difficult fix. Too bad, it's a great sub.
