Question about Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z5 Digital Camera

Self Timer Activation

What, exactly, activates the self timer? I have set the option to either 2 or 10 seconds in the menu. And have followed the manuals instructions.

Steps: Press the shutter-release button until AF & AE are set - (part way) - then all the way to begin countdown.

My camera: Self timer does not activate. The countdown is not displayed. The lamp does not blink.

How do I 'activate' self timer?

Re: Self Timer Activation

The instruction manual is quite poor. Once you have decided which option you would like (2 or 10 seconds) you must go back to the main menu to select which drive mode you would like. Single is default. From single, you can select self-timer, which will activate it for your next shot. The drive mode will always reset back to single after every shot so you'll need to set this up for every self-timed shot.

Happy shooting!

No 'ON' indicator in the self timer menu

The first clock sets the self-timer for a ten-second delay, the second for a two-second delay. Select the one you want to set the self-timer. Start the self-timer by pressing the shutter release button as usual.

Full details are in the "Self-Timer Photography" section of the manual (page 60 in my copy). If you need a manual you may download a copy here.

I need help with setting the self timer on the Olympus Camedia c-700 camera. Can't figure how to do it with the menu. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks

the self timer usually works like this.
find the self timer setting and set it to 5 or 10 seconds.
then exit the menu and click the button that you normally press to take photo. the self timer will start automatically and the picture will be taken after 5 or 10 seconds (depending on what you set).
note that the self timer will be reset to off after this.

I cannot determine the sequence to set up the self timer. Can someone help me

Hello. First of all let me say that one of the real pluses with digital cameras is that you can experiment with them and it will not cost you more money. The self timer has two choices for you. Either 2 seconds of wait time or 10 seconds. Turn your camera on and find the self timer. Choose the ten second option. Set the camera up to look at the subject and push the shutter button. Ten seconds will elapse and the shutter will activate. Regards, Joe

How to set timer on pentax k10

The manual for the K10 is available at

pp.77-79 details operation of the self-timer.

Basically, use the "Fn" button to bring up the menu. Press up on the four-way controller to select Drive Mode. Then you have two self-timer options. The first sets up a 12-second delay. The second is a 2-second delay.

Unfortunately, the manual offers no other method for setting a self-timer time.

If you are talking about date and time, that starts on p.56 in the manual. Basically, enter the menu system in Playback mode, choose Set-up, choose Custom setting, then select the Date setup option. There are a series of options there for formatting and setting the day, month, year, hour, and minutes.

Self Timer Operation

Easy, in camera mode, push the menu/ok button, use the left and right arrows to display the self timer mode. There are only 3 options on the menu. (self timer, cont, option). Once self timer is on the screen, use the up arrow to pick a short or long self timer.

Once it is set, compose your picture and press the release button as normal, the self timer will do the rest

Delay timer

You can download the manuals for the PowerShot SD600 here.

To use the self timer feature, you need to set it up in the menu first.

1. Press the Menu button. If not in the shooting menu (silhouette of a camera), use the left or right arrow to get there.
2. Use the down arrow to select Self Timer.
3. Use the right arrow to select the clockface with a 2 or a 10 (2 second or 10 second delay).
4. Press the Func./Set button.
5. Press the Menu button to exit.

Once set up, you can activate it by pressing on the down arrow. You should see an icon change from a rectangle to a clockface at the top center of the LCD when the self timer mode is selected. Press the down button again to cancel the self timer mode.

Here's how it works.

Press the Menu button. (Some settings are unavailable in some modes.)
Press 'up arrow' or 'down arrow' to get to the 'Self Timer' option which looks like moz-screenshot.jpga clock set at 10 minutes to 10.
Press the OK button.
Press the Menu button to exit the menu.
(This setting will stay until you take a picture or turn the mode dial).

Good Luck
