Web cam not working on new computer

Hi there, I recently got a new HP computer last weekend and it came with the new Windows Vista program. Since I got this new computer when I try to use my webcam it says that it is in use or not plugged in. I checked and it IS plugged in, and when I am downloading it from the CD it came with it tells me that there was a problem and the downloading has failed. Why is it not working? Is it not compatable with Windows Vista? thanks Jennifer Can't connect QuickCam 8.3.0 to my new HP computer with Windows Vista..when I try installing the software I am told that it is there help besides getting a new webcam?

Re: Web cam not working on new computer

I cannot check you camera for you but you can check it here -- it works with pictures. Look for your product each of the two links provided (the older items are on the second link).,en?prodcrid=405,en&legacy=1

When you find your product click Get Software

Note toward the center of the page -- Other Downloads
this is a list of items to download often there is more than one.

Choose operating system above for each item
Checkout the download instructions bottom of page for each item
Click Download Software to get the software

Unfortunately all items do not display download software and some say drivers/software are not available.

I have problems with my hp web camara it freeze it a lot on messanger any help

If your web camera freezes check your Windows Device Manager and see if the hardware is recognized and installed properly. It might be that the hardware is recognized as a camera, but the right drivers are not installed. The yellow explanation mark will indicate a problem. If the device is not recognized in Windows XP, it will be listed under Other Devices
In either case you can try to update the drivers. Right-click the device, and in the pop up menu select Update Driver Software. Then follow the instructions on screen, but make sure you allow Windows to search the web for updated drivers. In case no driver for the web cam can be found, you can try a third party driver finding program that scans your PC for installed hardware and allows you to install missing drivers.
If this fails, the next step would be to un install the software that came with your web cam. Use the Add or Remove Programs feature in the Control Panel. If that does not work you can use a third party un installer. After un installing the software, restart your PC and then reinstall the web cam software. In most cases this will solve the problems. Depending on the software, you might need to unplug your web cam during the software installation.
If the drivers and web cam software are correctly installed, and you still it freezes, there can be a problem with the program settings. Most chat and meeting software have a configuration option to select the video source for the web cam feature. If you have multiple devices that qualify for video, you might need to select your web cam device as the source for the web cam feature in that program. Some web cams and programs require additional software, although that should be installed with the web cam if things are right. But is does not harm to check if your Java, Flash and Quick time software are installed and up to date. But certainly check your DirectX software, since all video applications, including web cams, use DirectX for video processing. Try downloading the latest DirectX version and install it (Windows XP: DirectX 9.0c – Windows Vista: DirectX 10).

Thank you !!

Veo web cam

Normal 0 You need to go to the manufactures site and download the VISTA driver for the camera. Then follow the info below to install the program.

Try disconnecting the Camera from the USB port and reinstall the CD or Downloaded software program. When the program asks you to connect the camera to the USB port, do so and it should work.
Hope this helps. Bud

My quick cam do not work with Windows Vista Primium

Lots of web cameras dont work with vista. The best option is to go to the webcam manufacture's website and see if there is a Vista driver available.
