i have a blackberry curve 8330 - was working fine - took battery out to re-boot - when i re-inserted battery, all i got was a battery symbol with a red line thru it. I cannot get the phone to connect to desktop manager, and cannot get my contacts out of this phone - any suggestions? i don't want to lose my contacts - too many to try and do manually

- None of the battery contacts appear to be bent, and the battery is in right. I know it's not the battery itself as I have put another fully charged battery in the phone and no luck getting it to boot up - just get the same battery symbol with the red line thru it.

- tried it - it did power off (the battery with the red line disappeared) - I took battery out and reinserted - it came back up with a battery that had a blue lightening bolt thru it now.

- i got it to work finally - apparently it was the battery connection - not sure why - I pushed the battery down hard on the pins, and got it to boot up long enough to backup the data on the phone. Thanks for all your help!!

check that you did not bend the battery contacts and that the battery is right side in. You should not have to loose anything, the issue should be related to the position of the battery and it's contact with the pins at the top of the phone.

- You should wait to rate the response until you're sure I can't find you the answer. You did not state that you had diagnosed the battery nor that the contacts appeared good. So I suggested you check those. Regardless, I will leave you to another technician and hopefully this information will help them diagnose your problem more accurately. I suggest however if you want to have assistance that you not rate the technician until you've allowed them the chance to work with you fully.

- Try a soft reset by holding down Alt + Cap + Delete for
about ten seconds. The device should power off. Remove the battery
and then put it back in.

- Only thing I can find on a blue bolt is that the phone is using more power than the charger is charging. I would try plugging the phone directly into the wall, not through USB or car. If that doesn't work, and you can't reset it, you may end up having to wipe and reload the firmware which will also wipe the contacts. I'm sorry.
However, if you have ever updated your firmware...BB desktop backs up the device. You may actually have a backup already that can be restored. You could also sync to an Oulook contacts list which would keep you from having to enter each one in.
I have a problem with my voice volume. I am told by the people I talk with that my voice is normal and then it goes low and they are constantly asking me to repeat myself. What could be the problem? Is there any way this can be fixed?
