Smudges on Brady labels

Can you tell me what is the highest temperature setting on this printer

I tried printing on shiny Brady labels but the ink just rubs off easily...

Thank you

I have an end-user with the same problem.

    1. Is it due to the limited heating temp of the fuser?

    2. Or the fact the fuser has a sort of an "Instant ON", quick heat up, and then prints right away?

This end-user had a laserjet 4; prior to me installing for him a new hp1020.

I was thinking that it had to do with energy-saver options.

    The HP4 was a 1990's vintage printer.
Prior to all the instant-ON type of enery saving features.
If I remember right, the HP4 only had a timer you could set in the options panel, to set a "minutes until power down" feature.

Also, the hp4 fuser roller was a heavy metal tube with a high intensity lamp inside. Probably a better heat transfer than the hp1020's film roller.
(The hp1020 has a lamp inside of a thin film roll).

Obviously you could not have the hp1020's lamp on 24/7 or the roller would have a meltdown.

Can you set the hp1020 to PRE-HEAT the fuser for a minute or two, prior to printing Brady labels?
    Thanks in advance.

Print preview looks fine but just get a blank label from label mark. prints ok when not done from pc

You likely need to use Brady's software to create the label on the PC, and your PC will need the correct printer drivers to communicate with the Brady. The software and drivers should be available from Brady.

Hi - My Brady IDPAL says it is printing, but nothing actually prints... silence. I was reading about the "insert labels" contact issue. It not that.

Hello, this is a response from Brady's technical support team. Please try this:
The three contact pins in the printer are not making contact with the smart cell computer chip (the shiny silver pad at the bottom of each cartridge). The occurs after the printer is dropped or after shoving
cartridges in at an angle.

To remedy, remove the cartridge and look at the bottom of the cartridge opening (just above the Power button). Take tweezers or needle nose pliers and pull slightly on the pins (outward, and towards you). Please double-click and View the file below for a picture of the pins. Once these metal contacts are out far enough to make contact with the smart cell (computer chip) on the label/ribbon cartridge, the printer will know that labels are loaded.

In addition to the Insert Labels error, contacts that get pushed in can result in two other issues:
One, the printer will only print if the cartridge is pushed down
(which makes the smart cell touch the contacts).
Two, if one or two, but not all three, contacts are not all the way out, the printer may only print on half of the labels (because it is only reading some of the silver bars on the cartridge's computer chip, and narrow media activates only one or two bars, where as wide
media activates all three).

I have one line on the page that the ink does not set on my Brother MFC-9440CN. All the other ink sets, but this one line doesn't and it "smudges" when you run your hand over it.

I've just bought a brother printer and find that when I print onto cd labels i've used before, the ink is not setting. I have never had this problem before with these labels, so now am concerned that the only new addition is the printer. Why should this happen? Is it the ink they use?

My Brady LabPal label printer seems to be printing labels that are not very bold and, in fact, the numbers are often only half printed. Do I need to change the ink cartridge within it, or what is the...

I have label cartridge in but it doesn't print, just says "insert labels". I have tried many times to take cartridge out, and reinsert, but it won't do anything.

Brady 600x Plus II Date Code Is Off

mmm...Maybe try updating the firmware. That printer is a Zebra Z96XiIII Plus printer. Zebra made a change in their code for the onboard clock in version 60.13.0.5 See if you have that version and if not, you can to to www.zebra.com and download firmware for the printer.

Hope that helps !

I have a Brady ID PAL label maker, I was printing labels and the printer stopped working< I thought it was because the cartridge was low so I replaced the cartridge and it still does nothing, I can hear...

I had the same problem. I opened up the unit and found that the small drive gear had lifted up on the shaft and was no longer engaging the other gear. I could have probably noticed this from the battery compartment. I pushed it back down and now the unit works fine.

Re Printer error

You have to set this online connection type from the SETUP-ONLINE-ConnectionType and set this to SERIAL if you are using a serial cable. Hope you have selected the port to the correct serial port or you have run the Port detection utility with the printer connected and switched ON while setting up the driver.

Blue color smears on every page

If you're still getting smudges, there must still be a label or part of a label either on one of the image drums or the transfer belt, i've found in the past it somethings gets stuck inside the unit on the cleaning blade. What i suggest is you run a print and open the front door at the paper travels along the transfer belt, look at all the image drums and see if you can see the smudge on one of them, if so the problem is caused by that cartridge if not it's in the transfer belt somewhere. You may need to try stopping the printer a few times and if the problem is in one of the cartridges, you will mst likely have to replace it, as with the transfer belt if you think that's causing the problem it's easier to remove it and rotate the belt manually.

Please note the image drums and the transfer belt are all light sensative
