Question about IBM ThinkPad R50e Notebook

Failed on restart, had all lights, now no lights and won't do anything!

I uninstalled a program, hit restart and it never started back up. I had the battery in but no AC power at that time. I plugged in the AC and still nothing. I removed the battery, attempted to clean the contacts a bit and put battery back in and plugged in AC. It started to boot, got all the way to my background screen and started to display icons, went dead. I repeated the same process, the battery light flickered for a couple seconds, turned orange/red and then all the lights went out. AC doesn't do anything with or without the battery in. I can remove the battery, replace it, plug in the AC adapter and push the power button and the battery light will flicker once and then nothing, no lights at all! HELP!!!

Thanks in advance for your input!

Sounds like your ac plug to the laptop might be loose you can try ans see if you can resolder it back. the other problem is your ac cord might be broken wiggle it around see if the light flickers.

I can not remove cyberlink webcam splitter from my system and it is interfering with my webcam

go to start menu/all programs/accessories/run and type regedit into the box and hit o.k.
Then go through the list and delete anything that has cyberlink in it's name...then close the window and restart the computer.
This will stop your computer from automatically starting any cyberlink programs that are hiding away.

If i switch on it is showning os loading and hanging

Try restarting in safe mode by hitting the F8 key during the boot.

You now have options. Test one at a time. One of them should get you going again.

  • Disabling startup programs from loading in the first place. Go to Start > Run (search in Win 7) and type MSConfig. Go to Startup tab and uncheck anything that you don't want Windows to load automatically.
  • Use System Restore and rolling back to a earlier date. It can be found in help. F1 key loads help.
  • Uninstalling problem software. Usually the last thing installed prior to problem.

How do I disable Macafee security system on compaq laptop

Try to check in the services that are running in your laptop.
Follow this step:
1) Right click My Computer. Go to Manage.
2) Computer Management window will appear. Go to Services and Applications.
Here's what it looks like:

If you see any service that is related to Macafee, right click on it and go to Properties.
(NOTE: Don't go away disabling anything if you're not sure. Feel free to get back on me.)
A window will appear.

On the Startup Type field, choose Disable. Click Ok.
That will disable Macafee on your system.

Hope it helps. Let me know!

Won't load the operating system

try booting into safe mode, and uninstall the program

to do this: right before the windows xp logo shows, rapidly hit F8 on the keyboard, you should get a screen that shows the advanced startup options, after you see this, use the arrow keys to select 'Safe Mode' and hit enter, the computer should boot successfully and you can uninstall the program.

NOTE: if you hit F8 too late, perform a cold-reboot (hold down the power button until the computer is off and then turn back on) and try again

Keyboard lockes up when attempting to log in with password. wont type anythin. also lockes mouse when i touch any key.will not work with an external keyboard via usb. cant get in

Hi there.
Restart the PC and boot into safe mode by pressing F8 just after the post/splash screen, this will take you into a sub menu with a few advanced choices, choose safe mode and hit enter.
The PC will start up with minimal drivers, if it lets you use the keyboard perform a system restore and take the PC back to a date before you uninstalled all the programs.
When system restore is complete it will restart and boot up normally, hopefully now you will have the keyboard back and you can proceed to uninstall spyware doctor etc.
Don't uninstall anything that you are unsure about, if you have to post back on here and ask if uninstalling a program will affect the system or hardware.
If the keyboard still does not work please post back for more advice.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!
