DLP projector BenQ MP710p

Hi ; My DLP projector is throwing the light unevenly on the screen...if I shake the projector the uneven pattern changes form, usually is a rainbowish line that cuts the corner of the screen.... ....the lamp has only 700 hours and is still bright....any sugestions would be great...I'm going to try and open it and air blow the dust out...that seems to fix most peoples issues....not to mention my last place was rather dusty..

yeah thats exactly right, I have tried tilting and it flickeres & makes a sctratching noise then a different shadow form appears, as if the colour wheel when the pj is vertical and on its side is hitting something and altering the light tunnel, i will take a picture...should I try taking off the case cover off? which seems difficult to do in itself...

    thanks alot

lol....I'm in Toronto Canada...but thanks again for your thoughts....now that you've explained...I don't think i'd be able to fix that without "drop in" parts ...these optical devices are tricky...I'll just have to go out and buy a new 1080p PJ... ; )

  • upnorthstar Jan 31, 2008

honestly..this projector is really not worth fixing....it is an older model...only XGA, 5 seg. wheel, 3x speed..but it has served me well...

id like a 1080P PJ but they are costly....either an Optoma HD80, an Epson 1080UB, or a Panasonic PT-AE1000U or 2000U

This is true, Projector prices have come down lately. LCD might not be a bad way to go. They have made remarkable improvements in respect to the blacks. And compared to DLPS they have one less moving part. Also some places are offering an extended warranty including 1 lamp replacement, So, check around and see what you can find. Good luck on shopping. Have a great day. Talk to you later.

Actually you can turn the projector on and then tilt it in all directions and see if picture shadowing changes. I have experience with this issue on DLP TV'S. IT sounds like a light tunnel problem if you can see partial picture behind shadow. It is fixable but very tedious. But can be done. Do you have a picture of the problem that you could send over? Thanks Jay

You can if you want, but the light tunnel is deep in the center of the unit and it tricky to get too. But if you want you can give it a try if you are mechanically inclined. Although you will still need a new light tunnel part! I have tried to fix these with no luck. Due to the temperature in the unit from the lamp, it melts every kind of glue or adhesive i have tried. Are you located locally? I am located in louisville, Kentucky. Talk to you soon. Jay

Well, keep me in mind if you want me to try and fix it, or if you don't maybe i can fix it for my personal use. I think it would look better on the ceiling the hanging a DLP TV that i took apart and shined the image onto a screen. LOL> Which type of projector did you purchase this time? 1080P or 1080i... Just curious.

I have a Benq w710st DLP projector and when i turn the power on after a minute it turns off. The power button turns off and both the lamp and temp lights turn red. How do I fix this and can I do it my

New bulb is probalbly needed. You need to find out what zero means on that projector. The real problem is finding out why the cooling fan is not turning on. This is probably the reason that the temp light is coming on.

How can I connect BENQ MP510 multimedia projector with Acer Aspire one D255E notebook using windows 7? Do I need installation of extra driver for that?

Hi!

No you don't need a driver, connect it using a VGA Cable, then press FN Key at the same time with Fkeys that has a monitor screen Icon on your keyboard.

Hope this helps.

Hi there my benq dlp projector is showing white spots on the screen when the screen is black can you help me?

This is caused by dust on the lens assembly. If you can remove the lens, clean the surfaces with a lens cloth. That should resolve the problem. It is possible that the there is dust in the optical pathway inside the unit as well. If the cleaning of the lens does not resolve the problem, the unit should be brought in for a professional cleaning. It is not suggested that anyone open up these units as there are fine adjustments that can be changed internally easily that could result in convergence problems.

Uncentered image using projector

reset the settings to factory default. is it cut off evenly, or is it uneven and shadowed? if it is the latter and you have a dlp projector, you have a collapsed light tunnel. if it is cut off evenly, go into the settings and make sure the resolution and screen size matches.

I have two different digital projectors that have been used for a long time. Now, even with new bulbs, we are noticing areas of mysterious blue beginning to show up unevenly across our image screens....

if they are lcd projectors (as opposed to dlp), the blue light filter (polarizer) is starting to fry due to excessive heat and dust. clean the projectors out thoroughly with canned air and see if it helps. if it does not, you will need to have the blue light filter replaced. unfortunately, most projector companies don't replace individual parts of the optical engine, but the whole engine itself.
